3DP Net Auto Detects and Installs Network Adapter Driver

One thing I like about new release of Windows operating system is the availability of drivers for many hardware. For example, when I installed Windows XP on my old desktop computer, it wasn’t able to automatically install drivers for the network adapter, audio, raid and video controller. Since the network adapter is not installed and no Internet connection, I had to search and download the drivers using another computer and then transfer the drivers using a USB flash drive. But when I installed Windows 7, all those not installed devices in XP were automatically installed in Windows 7. Unfortunately it doesn’t stay that way because hardware manufacturers kept on releasing newer hardware which the driver is not included in the current version of Windows.

Windows unknown other devices

As a computer technician, I know that the most important thing is to get the network adapter working so that I could at least go online and search for the correct driver to install. I have previously posted about all-in-one driver CD/DVD such as DriverPack Solution 9 Professional, DriverPacks and DriverForge but here is another one called 3DP Net that is specifically aimed to auto install network adapter drivers so that the computer can have a working Internet connection.

3DP Net is integrated offline driver installer that supports many model of ethernet card. It detects ethernet card automatically and provides the newest or the most suitable driver. The archive package is 30MB in size and needs to be extracted to the root of the system drive. Launching 3DP_Net.exe from C:\3DP\Net\1003 folder will start the program. If your computer already has an internet connection, 3DP Net will advice you that Internet is connected normally and you don’t need to install the driver. However if the computer doesn’t have an active internet connection, 3DP Net user interface will open.

The network adapter will be auto detected and clicking on the Ethernet card will start the driver installation. It uses the official Microsoft Driver Package installer to perform the automated driver installation. If you have two or more network adapters, you can see the Extra button on the right side so you can check other devices. The driver installation is pretty straight forward and you may need to click the Continue Anyway button when Windows detected that the driver that 3DP Net is trying to install has not passed Windows Logo testing

Completing the device driver installation wizard

3DP Net is free, portable and works on Windows XP, Vista and 7. A great addition to the list of tools to assist a computer technician during Windows reinstallation.

This looked promising, but while it was extracting its files, Avira AntiVir tagged several files – so I canceled the install and deleted the C:\3DP file folder.

Hope others do not have the same experience.

      Perhaps another time for me.

Silly me, forgot to post the Avira AntiVir warnings. From my Event Log files…

      Event Type: Warning
      Event Source: Avira AntiVir
      Event Category: Infection
      Event ID: 4113
      Date: 05/18/2010
      Time: 2:20:22 AM
      User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
      Computer: MARTINS-XXXXXXX
Description: AntiVir has detected ‘TR/Dldr.Banload.atkb’ in the file C:\3DP\Net\1003\NVIDIA\Init.exe

      Event Type: Warning
      Event Source: Avira AntiVir
      Event Category: Infection
      Event ID: 4113
      Date: 05/18/2010
      Time: 2:20:11 AM
      User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
      Computer: MARTINS-XXXXXXX
Description: AntiVir has detected ‘BDS/Poison.bkfa’ in the file C:\3DP\Net\1003\3DP_Net.exe

It is also possible that Avira AntiVir may have found other files that it considered problem(s), but I stopped the install after these two and cannot comment further.

Like I said in my previous post, I hope others do not have the same experience.

Is there any program that will detect the wireless adapter driver? I bought a new Acer Aspire 5738 with win7 ultimate but i am unable to connect internet through wifi. It shows me wireless networks detected but it can’t connect. When i am diagnose the problem, windows help says the problem is with the wifi driver. Even in Acer website they provided 5 types of wifi drivers. I tried all of them but can’t solve my problem…..

Should be a false detection, I analyzed the file and it didn’t perform any malicious activity on my computer.

Joji, 3DP Net is able to detect wireless adapter as well. Worked on my laptop with a wireless adapter.

Thank You very much for this.

    • Alex

      It’s not a free! license cost $10.

    • http://www.raymond.cc/ Raymond

It is free. Not sure where did you find that it cost $10.

    • Dark Genesis

KIS 2010 also find it as a treat (Backdoor.Win32.Poison.bkfa).
Anyway as said earlier, it must be a false positive. I’ve just read in the changelog available at Softpedia.com that they seem to have already had similar problel with other AV:

      “What’s new in 3DP Net 10.03:
      · Issue has been resolved(The AVG made a wrong diagnosis). ”

Thank you Raymond for sharing this.

      Hi raymond,
I have just spent the last 4 hours waiting for your recommended ‘drivepack solutions 9′ to download and what a load of rubbish it was, it went straight to the ‘bin’.
It would not display in english, no matter how many times I tried to ‘translate it’. Why is it not possible for you to give ‘proper’ web site links that are easy for the ‘novice’ to understand. We are not all ‘experts’ and a lot of pc users need more than a ‘quick link’.
      Yours disappointed

The guy who is trying different drivers, make sure you uninstall the ones that didn’t work, before trying another one.

    • Mark Gilgal

It installed properly and found that I have connection and closed. Ad-Aware Plus 8.2.1, Bit-Defender AV 2010, Emisoft Anti-Malware – all tagged it as Trojan. Subsequently, the .exe file was deleted, but it had left the following on C:
      Folders:
      3Com
      Accton
      ADMTek
      Agere
      AMD
      Asus
      Atheros
      Attansic
      Broadcom
      Cisco
      Davicom
      D-Link
      Intel
      JMicron
      Marvell
      National_Semiconductors
      NVIDIA
      Ralink
      Realtek
      Samsung
      SiS
      Texas_Instruments
      ULi
      VIA
      ZyDAS

      Programs:
      DPInst32
      DPInst64

How can it update when the .exe had been deleted? Or Do I just run the 32-bit program? Do I delelete the folders? Please assist.

Saved my arse, Fujitsu siemens suck for keeping old drivers on their site and was having real problems with the NIC, this little program sorted it out, added it to my toolbox. Many thanks, kept me from pulling the rest of my hair out.
