The last time I blogged about how to install Mac OS X on Intel and AMD computer was how to do it with version 10.4.3.
Apple Mac OS X latest version is 10.4.6 and it’s always advisable to update your system to the most current state.
Sad to say that you won’t be able to update your Mac OS X from 10.4.3 to 10.4.6 if you installed Mac OS X 10.4.3 on your Intel or AMD computer using the method I showed last month.
Actually you SHOULD be able to use Apple Mac OS X Software Update but after complete downloading and installing the updates, you won’t be able to boot up your Mac OS X on your Intel or AMD system :(
Today I will show you 2, yes TWO method on how to have Apple Mac OS X 10.4.6 on your Intel or AMD computer ;)
First Method: From Apple Mac OS X 10.4.5 to 10.4.6.
The first method is to download Apple Mac OS X 10.4.5, install it on your computer, and then apply the 10.4.6 update patch created by myzar. Below is the step-by-step instructions on how to install Mac OS X 10.4.5 and update to 10.4.6.
1. Search for Mac OS X 10.4.4/5 osx86 Patched Bootable DVD torrent at ThePirateBay and download the torrent file.
2. Use a Torrent client such as µTorrent to load the Mac OS X 10.4.4/5 osx86 Patched Bootable DVD .torrent you’ve downloaded from ThePirateBay.
3. After completed downloading Apple Mac OS X 1.4.5, use Nero to burn MacOSX_10.4.4DVDPATCHED_Myz.iso file to DVD recordable disc.
Launch Nero and click on the Open button to load the .iso file and burn it.
4. Browse ThePirateBay again and search for 10.4.6 Amd/Intel Update and download the torrent file. The filesize is about 147.47MB.
5. Again, using a Torrent client such as µTorrent to load the 10.4.6 Amd/Intel Update .torrent you’ve downloaded from ThePirateBay.
6. Once downloaded the 10.4.6 Amd/Intel Update, you can either burn it to a CD or copy it to your media such as thumbdrive or external usb/firewire hard drive.
7. Put in the Mac OS X 10.4.4/5 osx86 Patched Bootable DVD, reboot your computer and set your BIOS to start from DVDROM….
Installation for Mac OS X 10.4.5 will start…. Just follow the simple step by step information.
8. Once completed Mac OS X 10.4.5 installation, you will need the 10.4.6 Amd/Intel Update file. Unzip the MacOSXUpd10.4.6Intel_V3.zip file and run the .dmg update.
9. After update, reboot and you will now have Apple Mac OS X 10.4.6 on your Intel or AMD computer.
Second Method: Install directly from Apple Mac OS X 10.4.6 patched DVD.
A much simpler method compared to the first method. Read the disadvantages at the end of this blog.
1. Go to btjunkie, search for JaS 10.4.6 Install dvd and download the .torrent file.
2. Use a Torrent client such as µTorrent to load the JaS 10.4.6 Install dvd .torrent you’ve downloaded from btjunkie.
3. After download, use Nero to burn the 10.4.6.install.dvd.iso file to DVD recordable disc.
Launch Nero and click on the Open button to load the .iso file and burn it.
After completed burning the Mac OS X 10.4.6 DVD, reboot your computer and set your BIOS to start from DVDROM….
Installation for Mac OS X 10.4.6 will start…. Just follow the simple step by step information.
There you go. You must be thinking why did I suggest 2 methods to install Mac OS X 10.4.6 on Intel or AMD?
Well, obviously the second method is much easier but it’s much more slower to download the10.4.6.install.dvd.iso file due to low amount of seeders. As for the first method, it’s been around for quite a while and it should have much more seeders to accelerate your download speed.

Since Ray and the gang seem to be on vacation and the folks who reported problems didn’t have the courtesy to
offer solutions when they found them, here is what I found after facing problems with this intall.

Specifically if you have the disk detection issue:
Your partition should be logical fat32
Now you should see the screen “Select a destination”, and it’s empty . Now on top of the screen, go to Utilities->Disk Utility.
On the left select the logical FAT32 partition
Then on the right select “Erase”. Choose “Mac OS Extended (Journaled)” as the volume format and erase it.
When you have sucessfully converted your partition to a Mac OS Extended (Journaled) partition quit disk utility.
Head back to install screen where youshould see your
drive as an option

You guys can also try out distros such as kalyway, ideneb/ iAtkos, iPC, leo4all and much more.
It’s easier to do the installation because all the required tools are built in it.
I mostly recommended iAtkos (google it)
Well with it, you can update to the latest version of OS X Leopard with Apple.

Those methods seem quite simple, that i’m tempted to get OSX installed on my PC. I have AMD Phenom Processor 2.3 Ghz with Asus mobo and 160 GB harddisk with Windows XP installed. Is it possible to run OSX on another partition on the same harddisk (XP+OSX=DualBoot?). I’m not a computer genius, can you help me with this ? I would like to give it a try. Thanks.

Nah Mate powermacs arnt intel based, when apple produced 10.4 they made two diffrent versions in one disc, one for PowerPC (Power Mac) and one for intel based macs (Mac Mini, Macbook/Pro, Imac, Mac Pro)

but the problem is after boot ..a screen comes with an apple logo and after that a blue screen come with two diagrams like a mouse.. there are two steps to be followed but i cant move my mouse ..seems it is just stucked there..and i cant go further until the step is complete..its a serial mouse …

You can’t use ANY cpu to run OSX natively on non apple OEM hardware. First check to see if your computer supports **AT LEAST** SSE2 instruction sets. Although OSX will run on SSE2 with the rosetta patch PPC apps will run a bit slowly as the the processor instruction sets required will have to be run as high level emulator app and the programs run through it. SSE cpu’s are not supported whatsoever your only choice is VMWare.
To get OSx86 to install you need a CPU that handles SSE3. There are some patches out there that let you patch this so any CPU can be used. Theres a patched HD image floating around but you need a Linux or OS X system to use the image and copy the files to a partition or a drive itself but only lets you use a 4GB partition.
First of all Ricky before you install OSX 10.4.6 I would get my keyboard fixed as it seems to be stuck on FUCKING CAPS LOCK.

Hi, I tried Method 2 and everything seemed to be going well until it asked me what hard drive to install onto. I have a completely blank unformatted 40 gigabyte hard drive in my intel machine. Is there something I need to do in order prep the hard drive for install?

i have too an AMD XP2400. not a chance to install OS X on it. the problem with Athlon XP-s are that they lack of SSE2, which cant be emulated efficiently.

When I use Asrock TwinsTV and IntelD945GTPL, I face the same problem as U: reboot and reboot again.
But for IntelD945CNTL, no problem for install OSX.
So sad that after install, loading MAC OSX, mouse pointer can be moved but the bar not turn to blue.

Got the same problem – cd boots but after a few secs says I must reboot my computer??
I tried F8 menu with the -v switch.
The process stopped with a kernel panic which reads [in part]:
Panic (cpu0 caller 0x0019c352): unresolved kernel trap (cpu0, type14 = page fault), Registers….etc.
Any clues? Should this work on non-sse3 cpu?
