IE5 Address Bar Editor is a freeware program that could be very useful if you would like to alter the links that appear in the drop down menu on the address bar in IE.

It allows you to edit items in the Internet Explorer Address Bar. You can use drag and drop to move the positions of items, and add new entries to the address bar or delete URLs from the address bar. This freeware DOES work with the latest Internet Explorer 7 and on Windows XP eventhough the quite outdated website saying that it’s not absolutely sure to work on IE4 and this freeware is designed for Windows 95 & 98.
This free tool is very easy to use. Just run and it will load all your URLs. To remove any address from the list, just select and click on the Remove button. You can add new URLs to the list, replace with an updated URL and clear all the URLs with a single click. Just remember to click on the “Save” button after you made any changes otherwise it would not take effect.

Regarding your mention of “IE Address Bar Editor”. After downloading and trying on IE 6.0 with Windows XP, I find that while the address editor does run, it does not work completely. It only lists the root address entries, and does not list any addresses that have subfolders. Using your site for example: As I begin typing http://www.raymond.cc, it displays the following list:
http://www.raymond.cc/blog
http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/2006/11/10/editing-urls-at-internet-explorer-address-bar-history/
However, when I look at the related entries in IE Address Editor, the only entry is http://www.raymond.cc
Perhaps it is a help to be able to remove all entries for a specific site, but I would really like to find one that would allow me to edit out subfolder entries while keeping the same sites root entry.
Sincerely,
Ron A. from Arkansas
Here is one that lists ALL history entries. I do not know about compatibility, but it works on IE6 WinXP:

Try using IEHistoryView instead. do a google search on that name to find a download link, or look at giveawayoftheday (dot) com.
[...] I’ve already posted tips on how to delete individual URLs from Internet Explorer address bar history manually via registry and also editing the history using software. Here’s another tip on how to do it on Mozilla Firefox. It’s much easier to do it on Mozilla Firefox and it doesn’t involve messing with registry nor using any third party software. For some reason I’ve ever been convinced that there’s no way to delete individual URLs from the History without just clearing the whole thing. Looked around for softwares that can do the job and nothing found. Finally, turns out I was wrong. [...]
