How to clean Brontok Virus

I’ve got a comment from a user asking me how to remove Brontok virus. Brontok virus is from Indonesia and I’ve seen this virus infected on a computer before and it prevents you from running Registry Editor. Most obvious way to know that you’ve been infected by Brontok virus is when your computer starts up, you’ll get an error messsage saying that it is unable to locate the file “Kesenjangan Sosial.exe“.
Here’s how to remove Brontok virus.

Choose to run either one to clean Brontok virus from your system. If you have the time, you can run all of them but not at the same time. Do it one by one just to be 100% sure that Brontok virus is completely removed.
September 19, 2007 Update: Brontok Washer link has been updated. It is one of the most effective Brontok virus cleaner. However, Symantec will flag Brontok Washer as “brontok virus” itself. There is also one Brontok virus variant that will automatically stop Brontok Washer from being run in Windows normal mode. Make sure you run Brontok Washer in Windows Safe Mode.

hi there..I have a problem..can anyone help me? this kind of brontok virus was transferred into my back up hard disk. whenever I try to execute a file on my back up drive, the task manager, registry editor, and the folder option show hidden files and folders are being disabled. but I didn’t see that green background message written in indonesian language. I did not get it from the internet because I do not have an Internet connection. how can I remove this virus from my back up drive?I think I got this virus when I lend my flash drive to one of my friend and insert it to my system……..please help me.
How does the Kaspersky 6 license version works? Does it removes Brontok? I have updated version of Kaspersky 6 and seems it is not removing!!..

I just want to share my experience to remove brontok virus and family. I say that because that virus have developed until now. Since that virus only can lock msconfig (System configuration utility) and regedit (Registry editor) until it can running on safe mode.
Really annoyance virus. But still that virus have weakness. It can\\\’t run in Safemode with command prompt only. So you can remove it at that safemode.
Don\\\’t use other safemode because at earlier version that virus still can run actively. This is step by step for removing brontok virus or whatever that names.
1. reboot your computer and enter into safemode with command prompt only. You can enter to this mode with pressing F8 while boot menu displayed.
2. click start menu –> run
3. type msconfig –> press enter
4. click Startup tab and uncheck unknown software like empty.pif, autorun.ini, and suspicious software in list.
5. click OK and don\\\’t restart the computer.
6. click start menu –> run
7. type regedit –> press enter
8. browse to HKLM\\\\Software\\\\Microsoft\\\\Windows\\\\CUrrentVersion\\\\Run,HKLM\\\\Software\\\\Microsoft\\\\Windows\\\\CUrrentVersion\\\\RunOnce and HKLM\\\\Software\\\\Microsoft\\\\Windows\\\\CUrrentVersion\\\\RunOnceEx
9. browse to HKCU\\\\Software\\\\Microsoft\\\\Windows\\\\CurrentVersion\\\\Run
10. for 8 and 9, you must find String with value = \\\”MSCONFIG\\\” and delete it
11. reboot your computer
12. scan your computer with Ansav antivirus at this link http://uploaded.to/?id=xlhowo

the brontox virus is very iritating,i scewed up the family pc and its indonesia`s fault,bomb em suckers…………………..
oh…so u all want a program to delete the virus…..then use ESET NOD32…..it has anti-STEALTH technology….STEALTH technology is the one that causes antiviruses to avoid detecting those brontok files……be sure to get an updated virus database so that it can detect new variations of the brontok virus……there are also antiviruses that work like NOD32……

first use avast version 4.8(startup scanning) and after to clean the registry use Trojan Remover at http://www.simplysup.com like Jin said in previous topic…
i congratulate the ppl behind this brontok thing…i deeply aprreciate those idulgences that took it with me…but still u cannot beat us filipinos in creating viruses…still remember love bug????hehehe…

my office network connection affected with brontox..i’ve tried many solution to prevent this problem…but still doesn’t work..i have try all above solution..but still doesn’t work…

the easiest would probably to download windows essentials and itll take less then 10 minutes to download and get rid of the brontok virus.
