Just yesterday, someone from Slovakia (I traced the IP address), or maybe he was using a proxy, posted a comment saying “If you have an premium account and you login http://www.rapidshare.xxxxxxx.xx/ then you get 10 000 premium pionts (= 30 day account).”
Immediately I sensed that it might be fake because there is no such news in Rapidshare.com. Still feeling curious, I decided to check out the website because who knows it might be a hack or trick that can really give me 10,000 free points. When I click on the site, it is IDENTICAL as Rapidshare.com Premium-Zone login page.

If the link is different from the original website but looks exactly the same, chances are 99.99% the website is fake and it’s trying to cheat you to enter your private information.
I noticed 2 differences if compared the fake website with the original Rapidshare.com website.
1. POST submission link
I checked the source code and found out that when you hit the “SSL-encrypted Login” button, it will submit to http://www.ncore_n.extra.hu/premiumpoints.php while the original link should be https://ssl.rapidshare.com/cgi-bin/premiumzone.cgi
I believe that the premiumpoints.php will either send your information to an email or log it on the server.
2. SSL
The fake website did mention SSL-encrypted Login, but the URL only uses HTTP and not HTTPS.
RapidShare Premium account is already so cheap and I find it hard to believe that there are people so desperate to have a RapidShare Premium account which made them go all the way to create a fake website. If my RapidShare premium account is being stolen, I’d immediately report it to RapidShare and have that account terminated.
Important note: If you own a RapidShare Premium account, please do not believe all these fake rewards and make sure you login from the original RapidShare.com website.

Rapidshare is one of the world’s biggest websites (See http://www.alexa.com). Recently this has meant that we have been the victim of more criminal activity than ever before. Please read the following advice to protect yourself from phishers.
Do NEVER buy RapidShare-accounts from other pages than the original RapidShare.de-page. Unfortunately there are already many criminal pages out there selling accounts mostly purchased with stolen credit-cards! This means those accounts will be valid for a few days only and the police really likes to prosecute bank-fraud.
Never enter your account data on websites other than http://rapidshare.de or https://ssl.rapidshare.de. You should always enter those domains manually in your browser. You should never follow links given in e-mails.
Never believe what you read in forums or guestbooks. If you see a posting from us, it is a fake. We never write in forums or guestbooks. If we want to tell you something, we use http://rapidshare.de to tell you.
Never believe what you are reading in e-mails that claim to be from us. RapidShare does NOT send newsletters, not even to premium-users. If we feel forced to send a newsletter to our premium-users, we will always put your login in this e-mail as well. If you get an e-mail pretending to be from RapidShare without your login, then it IS not from us. If you receive an e-mail but you are not a premium-user at all, it is clearly a fake as we would not hold your personal details on our files.
Our intention is to help you to protect yourself with the advice that we have given above. Remember, please follow our advice. Thank you.
Hello,
I’m from Slovakia :)
That site you posted has Hungarian TLD (hu). Our countries are so interconnected, that it could be Hungarian living in Slovakia(using Slovakian ISP), but using Hungarian hosting.
A lot of people hate Hungarians living in Slovakia because of their (political and other) occupation in my country.
I don’t have anything against them, but this article can change other’s people opinion on Slovakians because of Hungarian.
For Slovakians are RapidShare accounts very cheap too ;)
Cheers
Hi,
I’m from Hungary.
I don’t know why Slovakians hates Hungarians… Please note that our history is common.
There is “no country” called Slovakia. In 1920. the allied states created it.

My rapidshare premium account was recently stolen.

Valid until: Sat, 17. Jan 2009
I did not buy it directly, but from a 3rd party so rapidshare will not help me, but they won’t terminate it, either. [Ticket#2008110310006641]
I’m still pissed about it, I even know the website that stole it. I cannot believe rapidshare still allows this person to enjoy my account.
