Today I checked one of my friend’s laptop because she complained that it is very slow and unstable. After booting up Windows XP, the first thing I noticed is there’s 2 Anti-Virus software installed. One is the free Active Virus Shield and F-Secure Internet Security 2007 trial version that has expired. Since she is not going to purchase F-Secure, so I may as well remove it so the computer will boot faster and also can avoid conflicts with Active Virus Shield.
I look in the Program’s Start Menu but there is no F-Secure folder. Usually there’ll be a shortcut which I can run the uninstallation. Then I went to Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel and found F-Secure Internet Security 2007 in the list. Selected F-Secure and clicked on the Remove button. I can only see a flash of DOS command prompt appear for a second and it immediately closes. Seems like there’s no way to remove or uninstall F-Secure Internet Security 2007.
After looking around, I found a solution on how to remove or uninstall F-Secure products even if you can’t do it from Add or Remove Programs.
On the F-Secure Internet Security 2007 frequently asked questions web page, it only teaches you to uninstall through the Windows Start menu.
1. Click ‘Start’.
2. Select ‘All Programs’.
3. Select ‘F-Secure Internet Security 2007′.
4. Click ‘Uninstall F-Secure Internet Security 2007′.
5. Confirm the uninstallation by clicking ‘Yes’.
However, it doesn’t give any alternatives IF this uninstallation method doesn’t work. Bad documentation…
F-Secure has a Uninstallation Tool that will remove F-Secure Service Platform, F-Secure Anti-Virus and F-Secure Internet Security from workstations. It will also delete the contents of the folder where F-Secure was installed. Just download the uninstallation tool from the link below, extract the ZIP archive and run UninstallationTool.exe.

It is able to remove:
* F-Secure Service Platform 5.x, 6.x
* F-Secure Anti-Virus / Internet Security 2005, 2006, 2007
* F-Secure Anti-Virus for Workstations 5.x
* F-Secure Anti-Virus Client Security 5.x, 6.x
* F-Secure Distributed Firewall 5.x
* F-Secure FileCrypto for Windows 5.x
* F-Secure Backweb for Windows 6.x
* F-Secure VPN+ for Windows 5.x
* F-Secure Anti-Spyware 2005
* F-Secure Rootkit Scanner Beta
And it works on Microsoft Windows 98 / Me / 2000 / XP (Home/Pro) / Vista.
Important Note: After executing this uninstallation tool, the computer will be rebooted automatically. So make sure you’ve saved all your work before running this tool. Even if you do not have any F-Secure programs installed, running this uninstallation tool will also reboot your computer. It does the job but it’s not smart enough.

Hi, downloaded your tool for removing f-secure, however the name of it worries me when you check properties on it , it is called stub32i.exe, which is a problem file according to Yahoo and google, why is this..Also F-secure dude I spoke to knew nothing of the file. My opinion is it is a key logger, so why have you not checked it?
many and many and many again thanks for helping me to solve a trouble
my very best regards

This information regarding removal of the F-Secure programme appears to be just what I need but I have been unable to print it out as \”windows detects an error\” and closes the web page when pressing the print command.
There is no way to uninstall F-Secure from any computer. Yes, F-Secure does have an uninstall folder, but one can not change any settings, as F-Secure has kept all permissions for change of any kind for its self. F-Secure will play games with you and allow you to believe that you are uninstaling… for a moment, but in an instant the dialogue informs you that you do not have permission to uninstall. Not only that it will not give you permission even under security.
Here is a solution. Go to PC Magazine on line. Ask to download “Mastering Windows” in their download search engine. You have to register with PCM I think. When you get the down load or the CD which comes with your Magazine membership, It will be the only spyware application you will ever need. Run the auto run anti spyware application on the download or on the CD if you have one It takes you to your registry. Look for F-Secure and IoLo. Not Ole, that belongs to Microsoft. Touch nothing in your registry without this disk or download, especially if it belongs to Microsoft.
Now, when you find F-Secure, uncheck the box on the left of it. You will not be able to. Look at the window you get when you clickF-Secure with a right click. It gives you options. Take the process option. Go in, find F-Secure. Do not kill it. Like a rattle snake this application has wrapped its self around all of your Winsock applications, all of your computer, even windows inter net. “Microsoft Windows has stopped working…” F-Secure” stops windows in its tracks. But most importantly, if you have the blue screen of death on your desk top it is feeding on your CPU and hard drive. It is bringing your computer down. Do not panic. Find F-Secure and change it’s priority to idle either on the down load or in the Task Manager. Go to your task manager and disable F-Secure. Then go back into your register and try to uncheck F Secure. If it does not uncheck, go back to Task manager and make a dump file. Just click on F secure in Task Manager. Then your options will pop up. Choose dump file. This will disable FSecure especially with an idle priority. Now go to your hard drive. Go into properties. Clean temporary files in propery. This will through the dumpfiles out. You are now ready to uncheck F Secure. You might have to work a long time on this but its worth it if you want to save your computer. My OS is Vista, the CD is or download of the CD is for all of Windows, so this should work for you. Please e mail me if you have any questions on procedure. No cost. Good Luck and God Bless you.
