Warning: Do NOT use uTorrent v1.7 and v1.7.1

If you’re still using uTorrent v1.7 or v17.1, please stop using it immediately. Either upgrade to the latest version 1.7.2 or use the older version 1.6.1. Although v1.7.2 was released about a week ago but I am sure there are people still using the flawed version of uTorrent.
µTorrent 1.7 is reporting stats out of the blue to the tracker, and is likely to cause you to get caught up by the anti cheat system. If you download torrents from private bittorrent tracker websites, you might risk your account being banned for cheating. It’d all gone to waste if you have an account with a good ratio.
From uTorrent changelog, you can see that version 1.7.2 fixes the problems.
— 2007-07-21: Version 1.7.2 (build 3458)
- Fix: Disable Local Peer Discovery for private torrents
— 2007-07-13: Version 1.7.1 (build 3360)
- Fix: Invalid download amounts being reported to trackers for >4GB torrents
This is how you can know which version of uTorrent are you using.
1. From the program’s title bar.
2. Click the Help menu, and select About µTorrent…
If you are downloading torrents from public bittorrent tracker such as ThePirateBay, Mininova and etc, you can still continue using the flawed v1.7 version of uTorrent because you won’t get your account banned.

thanks for such a resource.
two questions. i’m running xp pro sp3 and it freezes intermittently for about 20 seconds each time. happens noticeably when i’m running GOMPlayer, jetaudio, but those are not the only instances. i’ve installed advanced system care pro [thanks] but it hasn’t stopped the freezing.
how do you configure the system so that utorrent can have incoming ports open? i’m running online armor for a firewall. i’m also using deluge

Just install tuneup utilities it might clear all your registries and system will be normal… or else best to reinstall xp
