   Can someone tell me why we need special recovery programs for memory cards? Are the regular hard drive programs not working on these cards?

   Ed, I think that regular hard drive recovery programs can work on memory cards too but somehow I think that programs that claims to recover from memory card might work better as it is optimized for recovering photos from memory cards.

   Photorec works too!

   I used ‘Zero Assumption Recovery’ tool to recover deleted pic from my sony camera. This one works fine and freeware also. You have to set you USB connection setting to ‘normal’ on your camera’, then only it show up in the tool.

    i accidentally pulled out the memory stick from the computer and deleted all newborn daughter\\\’s pictures from my memory card and the paretologic data recovery system says it works and it was \\\”free\\\” BUT i have to pay to get all the information!!the camera type is a nikon coolpix l6 and i need help…BADLY!!

    i went on a trip and took a couple hundred pictures and some of them i almost died to get. not joking. anyway i was on my way home i acedetaly reformated my memory card. i took some of the best pictures i have ever taken. my only problem is that i have no money

    Gracias por guiarme y ensenarme como recuperar mis fotos. Tengo una duda recupere muchas fotos pero hay algunas que no se quieren abrir y las otras cuando las mando a imprimir salen muy borrosas. Que hago yo no se nada de sistema ni nada por el estilo pero si me ayudan se los agradesco mucha .

    Amigos, estou aqui para agradecer do fundo, mas do fundo mesmo do coração por ter me ensinado a recuperar as fotos da minha câmera digital, puxa muito fácil e simples!To muito alegre…mas pensativo…
    Já que temos essa opção, isso explica porque vaza tanta fotos e videos “pessoais” na internet, assim se por acaso alguem tiver uma foto ou um video que excluiu da camera ou do mesdo de um HD, e tiver uma pessoa que tenha um programa desse, ele iria forra! Cara, isso é preocupante, mas uma vez é aconselhável as pessoas não fazerem este tipo de coisa.Será que existe uma forma de deletar um programa definitivamente? Estou curioso!
    Mas tirando o a curiosidade, o programa é nota 1.000! E vcs são d+. Por favor peguem meu msn, gostaria de trocar ideias sobres esses programas, fiquei facinado!

    I used \’Zero Assumption Recovery\’ as mentioned by Jas in comment 9 and it found the files I wanted. It is a free evaluation version which allows the photos to be saved free of charge as part of the package, Its worth a try before paying out for some of the other packages advertisd. Program name is ZAR 8.3

    Yes it did work!!
    I was just playing with my Dad\’s DigiCam and happen to delete my Mum n Dadz Singapore/Malaysia Trip Pics!!

    The Software really works, though some pics may be recovered properly. But it has 99.99% success rate!!

    I did a search on ask.com and came up with this webpage. Thank you soooo much!! My 5 year old daughter deleted the picures on my camera…thanksgiving…christmas and everything in between. I was sad to have lost them, but I\\\\\\\’m happy to say PC inspector worked beatifully and didn\\\\\\\’t cost a cent! I clicked the link to download and followed the instructions given by Raymond.     I used this FREE program to recover 350 photos lost on a corrupted SD memory card (improperly ejected). **The trick I used was not to insert the SD card directly into my CPU’s memory card reader, rather I had an after market cheapo single SD Cardreader that plugged into an open USB port (stuck the card in this and then into a USB on my CPU). That somehow made the connection that allowed this program to recover the files. It took a few hours because most files were 4 mbs, but I believe it recovered every single one.

    Same here =( …. I was also looking forward to using this program and recovering some pictures I took of my 4yr old daughter at Times Square last night, but accidentally pressed the wrong button and erased all the pictures I had marked as “favorites” =*( . I downloaded PC INSPECTOR but something is wrong… when I tried opening it I got an error msg that says this ………

    Run-Time error ‘339′ :
    Component ‘gif89dll’ or one of its dependencies not currently registered: a file is missing or invalid.

    I erased the program & re-intalled it again but I got the same error msg when opening it again =-/ …. Please help…I cant lose those precious memories we shared last night ….

    the error occured because this software doesnt work on windows vista
    once i dowloaded it onto my old oc, it worked fine

    I can’t believe it! I just can’t. I hesitated to download the program, remembering all the times my husband has yelled at me for picking up viruses. And I was only after 3 pics, somewhat insignificant.

    I realised I deleted them off my sony ericsson k800i phone (micro memory stick) in a bulk group after transferring a group to my computer- an oversight on my part that they weren’t included in the transfer group!

    It took about 35 minutes, recovering 516 photos in all. Loads of photos were ones that were still on the phone. My heart was sinking when it was 97% complete and my 3 photos still had yet to appear. Then they appeared in the LAST 10 photos to be recovered. Truly amazing! I still thought the program would request payment, but no such thing. The pictures are safe and sound on my laptop.

    Tip: our memory card reader didn’t seem compatible with the micro memory stick I had. Therefore I was concerned I couldn’t capture a different letter drive as instructed. I went ahead and reconnected my phone via it’s USB cable, not realising I left the memory card reader plugged into the laptop. The computer read the memory card reader’s drives first, in alphabetical order, so the phone’s letter drives came up as different letters than usual! Not sure if it is really necessary to connect with different letter drives?

    Again, a big thank you for being a legit site and software that works. xxooxxooxx

    hey thanks a ton for RAJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ who gave a solution for people having VISTA . Thats true open the pPC INSPECTOR SMART RECOVERY WITH run as adminsitrator.
    I am really thankful to raj who saved me from my girl who was really mad at me for loosing the pics. I would like to help others by giving the procedure how to recover the lot pics from memory card:
    Quick Internet searches will reveal a tremendous number of programs that advertise lost data recovery, and most of them cost between $25 – $40. Luckily for you though, the folks at CONVAR have a program called PC Inspector Smart Recovery that does the very same job for free. The procedure for recovering your photos is:
    1. Download and install PC Inspector Smart Recovery.
    2. With the memory card inserted, connect your digital camera to your computer. Under “My Computer”, note the drive letter assigned to your camera’s memory card (usually E: or F:).
    3. Start PC Inspector Smart Recover and when it loads, set up your data recovery by:
    1. Selecting the drive letter to recover files from.
    2. Selecting a folder on your computer where the recovered files are to be saved.
    4. Now, click the “Start” button and let PC Inspector Smarty Recovery work its magic.
    5. Browse to the folder that you selected for your recovered files and check out the results of the recovery.
    PC Inspector Smart Recovery may take a long time to process depending on the size of the memory card you’re scanning, but the results are worth the wait. We were able to resurrect 100% of the photos that were accidentally deleted from a 1 GB memory card, and the reviews on Smart Recovery’s website are a testament to similar results in many other like situations.

    OPENING IN VISTA:
    RIGHT CLICK ON PC INSPECTOR AND U CAN SEE ‘run as an adminstrator”. do this only if you get any erro message like gif dll……..

    Used your PC Inspector Smart Recovery program as the last two weekends pictures that I KNOW I had taken as I was showing people from my camera where somehow lost when I put my memory card in my computer to download the photos and they were just gone.     i accidentally reformatted the SD card in my uncle’s digital camera (canon). right after losing all the images in the cam, i took a picture just once, is it possible that i can recover all the lost pictures considering that i took picture once? i have tried using recuva software but it only showed 12 pictures out of hundreds pictures that was stored. pls help me…

    im so upsetted. my dad accidentally format the whole memory card which had hundreds over pictures and still took 3 photos afterthat. And I’ve tried many applications of retrieving photos, but it retrieved back the 3 photos only. Is there any software that could helps EMAIL ME.
