I figured since all his email is appearing the wrong time, perhaps he did not set his Windows Date and Time correctly. I asked him to check on that and he assured me that the time on his computer is correct, but when he send emails, the time is few hours ahead!
There are other settings to check if the time or date is still wrong even if the time on the computer is correct.
First of all, you must make sure that the time on the computer is correct. You can check that from Windows Time and Date Properties. There are two ways of accessing Windows Date and Time properties.
1. Double click on the displayed time at the bottom right hand side tray bar.

2. Go to Control Panel and launch Date and Time.

Secondly, the Time Zone on your computer must also be set correctly. Time Zone settings can be located at the “Time Zone” tab when configuring Date and Time.

You might notice another tab called “Internet Time“. It is supposedly used to connect to a time server to keep your computer time correct. I don’t know why this feature doesn’t work on my laptop even if I turn off my firewall. I always get the error message “An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with time.windows.com. I’ve tried using time.nist.gov, but it still gives me the same error message. If it works for you, just go ahead and use it.
This should fix the time stamp problem when sending and receiving emails using email client and webmails. Looks like webmail nowadays also depend on your system’s current time and also time zone. It is no longer affected by the configured time zone when you register for an account. I’ve tested it by setting a wrong timezone for my Hotmail, Yahoo and GMail account, sent a test email and the time stamp is still correct.

He told me that no that the time on his email is wrong no matter if he send from his POP3 from Outlook, Hotmail, Yahoo or even his GMail [...]

Strange though, I’ve received wrong timestamps from people I KNOW who have the correct time on their systems… the only explanation I could find was the timezone thing….
“An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with time.windows.com. I’ve tried using time.nist.gov, but it still gives me the same error message”..same to me. Mayb you can figure this out later raymond..
this is very useful information since i always have to submit my assigment through email.times tamp is rwally important. Thanx alot raymond
The issue your having is related to the mail server. The mail server time stamps the e-mail when it was process there and that is the time you’re seeing. If your mail server is in a different time zone, it shows up somewhat incorrect. At least this is usually the problem in this case.
Thank you for your help. this information fixed my problem. i had no idea that i needed to change this also. thanks again!
Here is a peculiar problem I am facing in Outlook Express when changing timezone settings. While viewing the messages OE displays the mail received or sent date and time. I recently shifted from India to Malaysia and changed the TimeZone settings on the computer. Note the TimeZone diff betn Malaysia & India is 2hrs30min. When I open OE messages I see that the time displayed for all old messages has changed by 2hrs30min. When i have to forward or reply to old messages the time shown is different.
How do I get the old messages to show the correct time?
The time displayed on e-mails is incorrect on the sent & received>
I sent an email on 1/19 at 12:57 am. The receiver of the email responded and the time stamp was 1/18 at 10:22 pm. Both of our laptops have the correct time and date entered. There is a problem somewhere that needs to be addressed and fixed.
why when i’m log in msn mail with my new mail address
pu555@msn.com. when i’m receive mail it show the incorrect time. but when i use another mail account it is ok. Help…………………………..
