I was cleaning up my PC’s hard drive just now and found two files that is really big in size. The files are hiberfil.sys with 1.99GB and pagefile.sys with 768MB.
Delete hiberfil.sys
Both of this system files is at my C:\ drive and took up nearly 3GB of my hard drive space.

So what is this hiberfil.sys and pagefile.sys? How can I remove it from my system and is it safe to delete hiberfil.sys and pagefile.sys?

  • How to boot from USBMichael Y from forum has reminded me about booting computer using USB flash drive. I’ve heard about that long ago and I know it’s possible but then I’ve never tried it myself. That’s because so far I’ve been fixing computers that has a working CD/DVD-Rom. Even IF there is a non functional CD/DVD-ROM, I can dismantle a working CD/DVD-ROM from another computer. However, I figured that it’s good to learn and know how to make your USB flash drive bootable. You can boot up Hiren’s BootCD from USB flash drive, install Windows using USB flash drive and even resetting Windows account password using Windows Key. See how useful it is to know how to make your USB flash drive bootable?

We all know that we can use floppy drive and CD/DVD to boot up your computer. There are also ISO files that contains boot image that when you burn it with Nero, the media disc will be bootable.

Here are some question that I ask myself before starting to do research on how to make a USB flash drive bootable.
    1. Is it possible to copy floppy boot image to USB flash drive?
    2. Is it possible to copy CD/DVD boot image to USB flash drive?
    3. Is it possible to extract boot image from ISO files and write it to USB flash drive?
    4. How to configure BIOS to boot with USB flash drive?
    5. Can all USB flash drive be made bootable?

I am glad to have found all the answers to the question above.

  • Many times when I wanted to download files from RapidShare links, I get the message “File Not Found“. This always happens when the link is old and unpopular where no one access the link for 90 days. Not everyone prefers to download from the same file host. Some hosts impose limits to countries, so hosting your file on many sites ensures the highest availability of the file. As far as I know, many uploaders are not willing to upload to other different file hosting servers mainly because there are no reward points to convert it to Premium account. It also waste time and bandwidth doing that.

I found a solution about a year ago to solve this problem. There is a utility called FileUploader and is able to upload files or folders to 32 file hoster simultaneously. To think about it, that didn’t really solve the problem because you still need time and bandwidth to upload to other file hoster. FileUploader only SIMPLIFIES the process of uploading without you visiting other websites, browsing the file that you want to upload and waiting for the file to complete uploading.

Today, I found a real solution to this problem. You only need to upload the file ONCE, and it will automatically create mirrors by distribute to a few file hosting servers.

  • I am very used to clicking the “Save and Continue Editing” button whenever I am in the midst of writing an article for this blog. Even though starting from Wordpress version 2.1, it already has the auto-save function which happens in the background, it’s still a good practice to manually save because you might never know when it won’t work.

This happened while I was writing an article just now. Suddenly I got the error message “Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 163569 bytes) in /home/…/translator.php on line 0“. At first I thought it was the Translator plugin that was causing the problem. I moved the plugin to another location and still the same error. Later I noticed that I couldn’t get in to any part of Raymond.CC anymore. Forum don’t work, Wordpress admin don’t work, not even the blog’s main page!

If all don’t work, it must be a problem on the server side. I did a little searching and luckily I found a solution to fix this problem without submitting a support ticket to my webhost.
