There are different types of security technologies to protect your computer. Antivirus is a software that examines files to look for known viruses matching definitions in a virus dictionary. Then there’s firewall, a device which is configured to permit, deny, or proxy data through a computer network. I discovered Sandbox few months ago which allows you to run untrusted programs in a virtual container. That’s why there are bulky all-in-one security products such as Norton Internet Security, McAfee Internet Security Suite, Trend Micro Internet Security Pro and etc, which can tremendously slow down a computer.
Today I am going to write about another type security software which has slight similar technology as Sandbox technology. Sandbox lets you run files suspicious files in a virtual container but this security software virtualize the whole windows system or the whole hard drive. So no matter what you do on the virtualize system, everything will be restored back to the original state after a restart.
Currently this security application is being used by nearly 4 million people in over 50 countries. You MUST check out this powerful security software!
PowerShadow is a revolutionary preventive approach to computer integrity protection.

You can use PowerShadow to virtualize your whole hard drive or C drive only into a disposable session. Computer equipped with this virtualized hard drive is just the same as your original one WITHOUT performance loss. You can do anything you like on this computer, but everything you do is completely isolated from the original hard disk. End this session with a reboot and all modifications on virtualized hard drive will be gone. Your hard disk will return to the very intact status.
Everything you do while in PowerShadow mode is actually being done, not by your operating system, but by a clone of the operating system. Therefore, when you exit PowerShadow mode, everything (except what you save to a non-system drive) will vanish. Likewise, if a virus attacks, it attacks the clone system; If spyware is installed, it is installed on the clone system only; If you delete a file, you have only deleted the clone file, leaving the original untouched. Absolute security and privacy in one elegant software solution.
It is REALLY easy to use PowerShadow. The only important thing you need to understand is:
1. There are 2 types of Shadow modes. Single or Full shadow mode. Single mode will only shadow the system partition. System partition means if your Windows is located at C: drive, the whole C: drive will be cloned but your other drives won’t be cloned.

As for full shadow mode, it will shadow all your hard drives. Got it?

2. There are pros and cons to both of the shadow mode. Single shadow mode allows you to save/create files to other non-system partition. After a reboot, the file will still be there. So it is convenient. As for full shadow mode, no matter where you save/create a file, it will be removed once you restart your computer. The solution is to save your data in a USB flash drive or external hard drive. Other than saving the data in external portable drives, you can also burn it to disc.
Switching from normal mode to shadow mode is fast and easy. You can either select “Single shadow mode for microsoft windows xp professional” or “full shadow mode for microsoft windows xp professional” during computer startup.

Another way to start shadow mode when you’re in normal mode is run the PowerShadow Master icon from Desktop/Start Menu/Quick Launch and click the big Start button.
To quit Shadow Mode, you can run PowerShadow Master and click the big QUIT button or restart your computer or right click on the PowerShadow tray icon and select “Quit Shadow Mode“.

Do take note that your computer must be restarted or shut down in order to quit shadow mode. It’s a little troublesome and how I wish it is possible to just switch back to normal mode without rebooting. Perhaps the next version will support quitting shadow mode on the fly?
I am really impressed with PowerShadow’s technology. At first I thought PowerShadow will most probably make an image or snapshot of my current system. Then when I quit from shadow mode, it will restore my system to the original state from the image. So I did a test to see if I was right. Before I install PowerShadow, my hard disk shows 119GB free space. After installing PowerShadow, it is still 119GB free space. When I am in shadow mode, my hard disk also reports 119GB of free space.
I did a test on my Windows XP. I started single shadow mode, tried copying some files and folders to my desktop and also I purposely infect myself with a virus. I then quit Shadow Mode and restarted my computer. When Windows has finished loading, I noticed that the files and folders that I copied to my desktop is gone! I couldn’t even find the virus on my computer too. Next, I decided to do something more extreme.
**WARNING! PLEASE DO NOT PERFORM THIS COMMAND IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME MEETING WITH POWERSHADOW’S CONCEPT!**
I started single shadow mode and ran the command “RD /s /q c:” to delete everything on my C: drive. When the command completed, I right click on my C: drive, select properties and it shows 2.88MB used space! I then restart my computer, and Windows booted just fine. I right click on C: drive again, select properties and this time it shows 2.97GB. Looks like everything is restored after a restart…
Remember, prevention is better than cure. Traditional anti-virus software is able to remove infected files but most of the time will not restore what the virus did to your Windows(such as disabling registry, task manager and etc). PowerShadow is a proven protection strategy for both computer beginners or experts. Most basic thing to know is don’t run any software that you don’t know. If you have to, run it in Powershadow.
Unfortunately PowerShadow is NOT freeware. It cost US$39 for a single personal license and you’ll be entitled to free upgrade for future versions. It’s not an expensive price to pay for such a powerful software to protect your computer. It can be used in cybercafes, libraries, school, corporate companies, even home computer.
I have 2 good news for all of you… First one is PowerShadow is kind enough to offer me a FREE license and I’ll be giving it away. To get the FREE PowerShadow license, download PowerShadow, install it, launch PowerShadow, click on the Startup Menu and be the first person to tell me what is the default seconds for “Definite Startup Menu Waiting Time“.
Don’t despair if you didn’t get the free license. PowerShadow is kind enough to offer Raymond.CC readers discount coupon which you can purchase PowerShadow Family License (Up to 3 users in the same household) for only $39. Just follow the simple steps below to get this incredible offer.

wow..thanks raymond.i wonder whether i can use it on clients’ pc ,i run cyber cafe..the deepfreeze is suck i just wanna use another non-suck deepfreezed replacement…do you recommend this product? tq ^_^
I obviously recommend PowerShadow. The only con is you can’t password protect this software. The next version will.
I really doubt they have 4 million users. 4 mil downloads maybe…
There are a number of programs out there that work like this one. Unfortunately the need to reboot makes them too much of a pain for me. I get by on Sandboxie and Altiris SVS.
“I started single shadow mode and ran the command “RD /s /q c:” to delete everything on my C: drive. After deleted everything on C: System , how come the computer still can run wihout windows? Can tell me how it happened? with 2.88mb is impossible to run, that means even the PowerShadow is deleted?
Err, some more question :
Can Error be reversed if it happened while using PowerShadow?
After playing Single Players games, all the saves game are gone too?
Online Games are without save game, so I don’t have to worry about anything if I play it while using PowerShadow, correct?
chiangeg, don’t be confused. The 2.88mb is when I haven’t restart the computer. After restart only my system is restored back.
IF you play online game, it is safe and don’t need to worry about saved games.
It is uncomfortable. Everything saved on system disk c: will be gone after reboot or after system crash. All temporary files used to backup for example documents, all settings, all personalizations (even bookmakrs) will be gone and this technology is good only for libraries and schools, not for business. It is much lke running live cd. Although it’s possible to move Documents to another partition I don’t have enough time to install skype and similar small programs to every user…
You install skype for every user in your company?!?! Is chatting software even allowed in companies? Well usually companies has file server and they can save their files there instead of the PowerShadow partition. It’s the same anyway if you have their home drive mapped. I worked in a company that has over 500 computers and I think 70% of my time are spent removing viruses even though Symantec Corporate Edition is installed. Unless you’re talking about small companies that has less than 10 computers and there is always a tech guy around during office hours…
And how to explain to every girl in the office, why the wallpaper with her favorite cat is deleted after reboot? Furthermore, what about Outlook files… Again, I think it is good only for public internet cafes.
Actually there are many programs that managers use to buy products and to check their current prices. Normally I don’t install them by myself. However it is a very nice solution for testing new software
Knysliux001, looks like you’re seriously against this software… Or my idea of using it in corporate companies?
Nope.
I am not against it. But to my mind such software has to permit some files to be written into a real disk. There must be a possibility to accept changes after the session. As far as I know Altiris SVS allows it. Nothing personal
I’m not interested in commercial weblogs raymond ..
Seems like Powershadow has gone. The downloads from all three download sites are reported by Winzip as not valid archives
Guys for your information, I found this software from Kaspersky forum. I tested it and I was REALLY impressed with the technology. Then I contacted PowerShadow and requested them to provide a free license to my readers and they were kind enough to give one.
But then, what I got was being accused of commercial weblogs? Sorry if this article looked like a commercial sponsored post but it’s NOT. Man I’m tired. I need a break…
This blog are mostly FAQ, and even giving free things to readers, how come it is commercial weblogs? anyway No one ask you to read this blog, I been reading this blog since long time ago !!! This is the best computer blog !!!
Installed the software. Tried to launch it from the “Power Shadow Master” in the “All Programs” menu. The only message I get is “You have not restart your computer yet”. I restarted my computer twice and still get the same message… Great disappointment!!!!
On top of not working, now I cannot uninstall the software. When I choose the uninstall option in the “All Programs” menu, I get the message: “You should reboot to uninstall the Power Shadow”. And this is it. Any ideas on how I can get it out of my computer???
Thanks a lot guys, since i see lot of negative comments i choose not to download this.

Yeah it’s a pretty awesome program. The new version will definitely be much better with new features. By the way, the free license is still available. Just be the first one to tell me what is the default seconds for “Definite Startup Menu Waiting Time”.

Great software. I will use in my work Pc. I’m just a little concerned in cases like Outlook Express, and another files that always are written in C. Let’s test…
the defualt time for “Definite Startup Menu Waiting Time” was 30 seconds.
Cant beleive no one has still answered it.
Anyways i have changed it to 4 secs.
Frank was the first person to answer that simple question. I am also quite surprised that it took 2 days for people to win this free PowerShadow license. Maybe no one actually reads the whole article if it’s too long?
I read it all, but in that moment I don’t want to win the license. Thought someone else will enjoy it more. After my comment today I think better, but was too late…
MR7, actually you’re the second… Just keep your finger crossed that the “Frank” doesn’t reply my email
Lol, a hope at least. Is there a emoticon to crossed fingers?
XoX maybe?
Ow, and a comment about the software. I’m running it since morning and everything is perfect, I’ve already shift+del my entire desktop and after the reboot everything back. Perfect…
Actually i thought someone must have answered it.
Later the next day I read your comment so posted the answer.
I got a serial anyways, tip to get your serial :- visit powershadow’s chinese site, they give out a free serial there
Great software, I would like to know something similar for Vista.
To: 009: Knysliux001
A tip for you
If you want to run Powershadow (single shadow mode) every time when you restart, You can move My Document, Desktop, Bookmark folder from C drive to D drive. Tweakui from Microsoft can help you to do this.
You can move outlook directory manually.
So, Frank replied the e-mail?
MR7, nope not yet. Let’s give him a few more days, if he still doesn’t reply or read the comments here, I’ll give you the license
I need the keygen
Please help me
Seems to be very useful.
Hey! Why dont you post about Norton and tell them to give free license to your readers .-)
hurm….nice sofware…but just for my desktop pc…i cant install to my acer laptop….anybody know y? i got PowerShadow error code f7a28cb4
Great software !!!
but I read this article to late……….. T^T
Thanks, for me this one better than deepfreeze. Cuz that can switch shadow/non-shadow during booting.
use shadow defender same as this and it is free or it is cracked already i think
Is there any difference between powershadow, shadowuser , and deep freeze ? or are these 3 programs exactly the same ?
Pretty nice software, i’ve tried it, shit never really happens! Try the dangerous virus in front of your friends, really cool!
