I tend to use http://www.ismywebsiteonline.com
This is a simple – and free! service, where you get an email immediately if your site is down, they check from a dozen or so locations across the globe. For a small fee they can also send you an sms, which is even better when you’re on the road.
They also have some neat graphs and reports and stuff on downtimes, so you can use that to complain to your hosting company if it happens to often

I’ve tried DNS tools, downforeveryoneorjustme… they all show that the site’s up but still unable to open the site…
my internet connection is good… where is the problem?
