3. Right click the M icon at the tray bar and select Start Meeting.
4. Enter your username, password, email and click OK. It will test connection and start meeting.
5. You’ll need to provide the Meeting ID to people who wants to join in the meeting.

The person who will be joining the meeting:
1. Download Mikogo Join Meeting tool. This tool is only meant to join meetings. It is smaller in size and requires no installation.
2. Enter Meeting ID, name and click Join Meeting.

That’s it! It is that simple! Did you notice that there is no router configuration needed? No port forwarding, no IP, and etc. It’s all automated. All you need is the Meeting ID.
Mikogo also has a Firefox add-on which allows you to start or join a meeting even easier. After installing the add-on, a M icon will appear at top right of the Firefox browser. Clicking the drop down button will give you the option to join or start a meeting.

If you wonder how Mikogo is able to provide their software and service for free, that’s because they have several subscription based screen sharing services (www.BeamYourScreen.com, www.Beam2Support.com, www.Beam2Present.com) and their technology is used by other desktop sharing and online collaboration providers.
Currently Mikogo is lacking of communication feature which is Chat or Voice. They do have Mikogo Skype Extras but I think there are more people using Windows Live Messenger than Skype. I am one of them that doesn’t use Skype
Another improvement that I would suggest is the ability to detect whether the meeting will be through LAN or WAN. If a company that is on the same LAN would like to have a presentation, going through Internet will be quite slow.
Some people might want to compare other remote access software such as CrossLoop and TeamViewer with Mikogo but I don’t think it’s fair because those tools are used mainly for providing remote computer support. Mikogo is more for online presentation and online meetings.

Microsoft also offers a freebie for this – SharedView. I use it several times a week and have been quite pleased. Here\’s the description from their site:
\”Connect with up to 15 people in different locations and get your point across by showing them what\’s on your screen. Share, review, and update documents with multiple people in real time.A Windows Live ID (Passport, Hotmail, or MSN) is required to start sessions, but not to join sessions. New in version 1.0: we have added a web based join experience to make SharedView even easier.\”
I’m alway’s interested in this kind of software , however i cant find the one i require.
I recently started a some sort of narrowcasting company (i cant go into detail couse infact the concept methode i provide isnt used yet).
Anyway.. i simply want to connect remotely to any installed narrowcasting screen i installed withouth requiring an ip and withouth the cliënt must give aproval.
Ofcourse i can use ftp or “known” vnc aplications , however i never could find one to my needs.
But beside all that … raymond i visit your site once and a whilesince i gues over a year , and i recommended it only to several peeps as i not want you to get overrunned.
And you are really fantastic, i alway’s like your greath explained articles…you are better as a newspaper lol

Am trying to use Mikogo but it seems a meeting only lasts for 10 minutes – no mention of this before downloading etc – is this a scam to get us to pay?
@Lizzy
You can hold Mikogo meetings for as long as you like, and as often as you like.
I think you might have seen the 15min countdown in the Mikogo Meeting Info window, which is the time limit for the first participant to join after you have started the meeting. After the first participant has joined, you can keep the meeting going for as long as wish.
Cheers,
Andrew
