It can also act as a trap when someone uses your computer, you will know by viewing the log file. Here is a free and simple keylogger (only 170KB in size) that is very light in resource usage.
Light Logger is a monitoring software that allows you to keep track of what is happening on your computer. This spy software runs hidden in the background, and automatically logs all keystrokes. LightLogger monitoring software starts at a low level that allow you to make logging even when an anti-keylogger is installed. To install LightLogger monitoring software just download and start LightLogger setup. You may see the logs using shortcut menu Start > Programs > HeavenWard > LightLogger > Show Logs.

LightLogger monitoring software features:
Absolutely free. Easy to install and using. Logs all keystrokes, is case sensitive (keystroke logger). Multi-language support. All the information is stored in the log file including system passwords, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, IAM, Skype messages and e-mail clients. Generates the report in the html format. The password fields are shown with the picture monitoring software password field Support special characters like [BACK], [CTRL], [DEL] and others. Small size 170Kb.
There is no interface or configuration for this keylogger. Once the log reaches 1MB, LightLogger will automatocally delete the logs at next reboot. The author of LightLogger did mention that he might release a version that will have minimal GUI with delete logs functionality. The logs are located at “C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\lightlogger.log”. If you want to manually delete the log file, just go to the drivers folder and delete lightlogger.log file.
Since LightLogger runs at low level, you won’t be seeing a visible running process at Task Manager. This method allows you to record all keystrokes including Windows login data. LightLogger starts automatically after installation.
I’ve scanned LightLogger with 36 types of antivirus from VirusTotal and only 5 antivirus detects it as Trojan, Spyware or Riskware. It is normal for antivirus program to flag keyloggers as dangerous program because it logs everything you type without you knowing. If you’re looking for a simple keylogger without any advanced features, you can give LightLogger a try. Works only in Windows XP.

Its only for Win XP
Any for Vista
And these 5 antivirus programs are … ???
Thanks Raymond. Good one.
thx raymond!
gooooooooooooooood
good one..
thx raymond….
thanks good keylogger
Plz post solution for Vista users too
This may be of interest. Spector Pro (commercial product) is a great monitor. Download the serial, use firewall to block it from calling home and away you go.
Now this one has got me confused.
Raymond, you describe this tool as “This spy software runs hidden in the background” and then go on to explain “You may see the logs using shortcut menu Start > Programs > HeavenWard > LightLogger > Show Logs.” You then add later on “The logs are located at “C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\lightlogger.log”. If you want to manually delete the log file, just go to the drivers folder and delete lightlogger.log file. By my reckoning – that’s THREE locations ? And if the logs can be so easily spotted – what makes this program “secret”?
Having so helpfully tested it’s ability against several anti virus, you fail to say WHICH reported it? If I wanted to use this tool to monitor (say) inappropriate usage of a PC …. I would blow its cover if that PC happened to be running one of the five anti-virus, wouldn’t I ?

This program is secret because you can’t find a process running in Windows Task Manager. If you remove the shortcut from Start Menu, and hide the program’s installation folder which is located at Program Files, no one would actually notice that there is a keylogger installed.
Avira AntiVir, Avast, GData, Ikarus, Symantec and SecureWeb-Gateway is able to detect LightLogger as keylogger. Hope this answers your questions.
