However, if you’re unsure on how to setup port forwarding for an application such as VNC or your favorite computer game, then this program called Simple Port Forwarding created by the same author as CleanMem may be able to help you. I knew about Simple Port Forwarding few months back but did not post about it because it is a shareware that cost $15. I personally don’t think that Simple Port Forwarding is not worth the money because it can only support 54 types of routers and cost money.
Good news is since version 2, Simple Port Forwarding has been released as freeware! This is definitely a great move by the author and I believe many people will start submitting their router’s screenshot to be added to the list. Let’s check it out how Simple Port Forwarding works.
Simple Port Forwarding works by automating the process of port forwarding for you. So whether you don’t understand how to forward ports, or you simply looking for an easier way of doing things then this program is for you.

The main interface of the program is small and clean. Giving options of seeing what is going to be forwarded to the router and how many entries and ports it will use in the process. You have the ability to save your list and send it to another user of the program. Example would be you have a family member who lives far from you and doesn’t really understand port forwarding, so instead of spending a lot of time over the phone walking them through it you can simply have them use the program and have them load the list, then your all done. Now that’s a time saver.
The program has a large database of known ports for over 600+ games and programs, so finding the port you need is made a little easier. The program will also remember custom applications you put in, so you don’t have to reenter them. The program remembers the last IP address you use to forward to, this helps not having to set it every time you load new ports!
The program has a tool to set your IP to static or back to DHCP from Tools menubar. When DHCP is enabled your IP address can change and thus breaking the port forwarding. By setting your IP to static it never changes. This tool is added to make setting a static IP as easy as possible for people instead of manually doing it on there systems (Which if a person has never done it before can be a little intimidating).
Currently the latest Simple Port Forwarding v2.0.2 works on the following routers:

If your router is not in the list of supported routers, there is a tool called Router Screen Capture which you can use to capture screenshot and save the html code to send it to the author so he can add them to the list. Refer to this page to download Router Screen Capture and how to use it. Once Simple Port Forwarding supports your router, it’d be a very easy and convenient task for you to handle port forwarding.

Thanks for the review Raymond. Just to let everyone know the program has only been out for about a month or so now. I have gotten over 40 routers added over the last month to put it up to 54 routers so far. I have over 30 more to still do and add and I have people uploading new routers everyday to me. Lots of work ahead, I hope you all enjoy the program.
Thanks Raymond…
new version is out, v2.1.2 and has over 110+ routers, you may want to update the links. Great post by the way!
