Fortunately I know of a method that can help you automate the process of searching for that image. It took me less than 5 minutes to search where the “Catch Me” image is located at. I personally don’t think this is cheating because I am using my computer knowledge and skills to be the best malware catcher!
First, you will need a website downloader or some people call it offline browser to automatic crawl and download all contents from a link. My personal favorite is Offline Explorer because it is packed with tons of features which makes it very powerful. Unfortunately it is shareware but you can use it without any limitations for 30 days. Then you crawl MalwareCity’s website with Offline Explorer and when finished, use a textcrawler to search for the image filename and see where it is located. Not sure what am I talking about? Follow the steps below and perhaps you can get a better idea.
1. Download and install Offline Explorer
2. Run Offline Explorer and when the New Project Wizard dialog box appears, enter http://www.malwarecity.com at the Project URL and click Next.

3. Make sure Levels limit is checked and the value is 1. Click Next.
4. Make sure that Download all files that are linked to the starting page is selected and click Next.
5. Make sure that Load only within the starting URL is selected and Load images from any location is checked. Click Next.
6. Make sure that Download the new Project now is selected and click Next. Offline Explorer will start downloading the whole MalwareCity’s website. When finished downloading, continue step 7.
7. Download TextCrawler and install.
8. Run TextCrawler, set it up with the information below and click the Find button.

Filename/Filter: *.*
Start Location: C:\download\www.malwarecity.com
Find: catch_him.jpg
9. In a few seconds, a list of searched results will appear in TextCrawler. Take note of the Path and File Name. Those are the links where the catch_me.jpg image are found and most likely is the place for you to join in the BitDefender 2010 giveaway. Open the REAL URL in your web browser and look for the catch_me.jpg image. Click on it and a form for you to join the giveaway should appear.

Now you’ve easily beaten the contest. All you need now is a little bit of luck to be chosen as one of the winners of BitDefender 2010. Best of luck to you and hope that you’ve learned something new today.

hi ray thanks for the blog and i followed all the above given steps and it worked till the 8 th step but once the 9th step is follwed it became unclear which url needs to be copied in the brower. please elaborate on it and the urls obtained by the text crawler were inefficient in finding the catch_him.jpg logo. I was luckyas i found it manually by going to every page of the blog.

Thanks a lot Reymond.
instructions was very clear & useful.
Please elaborate after step8. what is real url?
Hi,
Thank you .
Best regards !
Thanks for sharing! I found it twice!
I tried multiple times, finally catch the html page that shows the catch_him.jpg for me to click.
However, It seemed to me that page does not always display that jpg. I dump the page source, it appears the site makes the page to include the jpg and href, javascript randomly. I tried to load the same page again using IE or Firefox, the jpg shows up on and off.
One hint: the page is at the top level right at the site url. i.e: www_malwarecity_com/xxxx.html, …say no more so not to spoil your fun of hacking.
Repost–internet connection drop…

Thank you so much raymond for this useful information.
Nice and thanks Ray for this gift. Apparently, for me it’s a advance gift for this coming Christmas. Regards…
it was actually really easy to find it. Just go to archives and open up each link, after you’ve found one, put your info in- then, clear browser history and do it again…LOL (I submitted 4 different e-mails in just a couple minutes)
Not that I need Bitdefender (I use Panda IS 2010 and quite happy with it) but wanted to see if it recorded by I.P address, but realized after I cleared all the history in FF that it only works by cookies
good one ray..
Lol if u want more of a chance winning look for the image multiple times and keep entering emails that u use
Nice tip Raymond! Thanks.
Nice trick Raymond..
Thanks a lot.
There is no need in the TextCrawler utility. You can use the Find Contents dialog in Offline Explorer – just enter the catch_him.jpg in the search field, check the “Search inside HTML tags” box. And make the search. Once done, browse to the found pages.
To go online, use the toolbar of the Internal browser of Offline Explorer – there is the first button with drop-down menu. Select “Browse the current URL online”.
