###### UNINSTALLING OFFICE 2007: ######

**PROBLEM:**

“setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted or not available” error upon uninstallation

**SOLUTION:**

Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Office 12\Office Setup Controller\Proof.en

Inside the folder, edit the xml file in notepad… (right click on it and go Edit)
…find where it says

and replace “neverinstalled with “Alwaysinstalled” and save.

[That might only work if you previously edited that document though, I can't remember sorry] Hope it works for you.

I can neither uninstall, repair, or apply service pack updates. I am stuck on SP1 getting error codes and inability to proceed. The original disks attempt at repair provides the feed back that it cannot instal the required component Microsoft Primary Interop Assemblies. Attempts to SP update results in a search for a non existent MSI file which is also a problem with attempts to apply security updates to the netframework service packs. Should I shoot this beast and go to 7 (Xp now) or follow the lead of my kids and go back to Mac !!!! I appear to have a MS office which is frozen in time.
