HD crashed. Purchased new HD (same as original seagate model). Attempted to use backup disks I made when I first got my desktop but disks were not "recognized". Called HP for vista disk replacement and as told it had been phased out..... loaded win xp to atleast have minimal word processing for schoolwork and really want my system running.... Can't! afford upgrade right now... Have my HP laptop and its recovery partitioned on an external drive but need help with my desktop. Then it told me too check under system ..... It's still telling me that I need to activate windows ? What's going on ? I'm stuck .
