4 days ago I heard about YouTorrent, the great new bittorrent search engine from TorrentFreak. I visit TorrentFreak daily to get my latest torrent news. I am already using Torrent Harvester, Bit Che and PeerSpider to easily search torrents on multiple sites but they are all desktop version. All 3 programs worked very well and there was no reason and need for me to try to use any other web services to search for torrents. I was at a (secret) site yesterday and found a YouTorrent banner. I thought to myself, if YouTorrent banner can be advertised at that site, it must be good.

At first I thought it was just another search engine that searches few bittorrent tracker sites but it turns out to be something quite impressive…


I am no guru in design and SEO, but I can say that everything about YouTorrent is done correctly.
1. Simple interface like Google
2. Real time searching and fast
3. No porn advertisements
4. Searches 12 most popular BitTorrent tracker sites
5. YouTorrent, sounds like YouTube which makes it easy to remember

It’s a good alternative when you can’t install desktop version of torrent searching program. By default the search results are sorted by the amount of seeds and peers. It can also be further sorted by date, torrent name, size, and torrent engines.

      http://torrentz.com is also a good site… it bundles trackers from multiple sites and shows the torrent as a single link… a lot of frickin’ ads on torrentz.com, though… youtorrent has a much cleaner look.

      I’ve got to be honest, I think youtorrent.com really sucks. Had high expectations for it and was very disapointed when I checked it out.

      I know it’s in early stages at the moment, but it takes absolute ages to follow a link for a torrent and the link doesn’t actually give you the torrent anyway, it just forwards you on to proper search engine that has it which is really annoying.

      If you are an experienced torrenter then youtorrent is not for you.

      I’ve used many different methods of searching for torrents on the internet and I have yet to find a better method than http://www.isohunt.com. The site is really simple to use, very fast, very well layed out and returns excellent results (most of the time). Only a number of times have I had to tinker around with the wording and characters to find something that wasn’t that popular.

      Only downside about isohunt is they still don’t have user comments for the indvidual torrents. This comes in really handy when people post fake torrents for movies and software.

      It’s ad less right now, but once people star flocking to it, I’m sure the greed for $ will take over.

      Well mark, once people start flocking to it, I am sure they’ll have to use dedicated server which cost money every month. They also need to spend more time on the website as well. I think it’s fair that they get paid from advertisers if they’re providing something for free to everyone.

      I don’t know what you are talking about Spartan, but in my opinion, Youtorrent is an excellent site to visit. I am quite experienced at torrent searching and after using torrentharvester and bitche for quite some time, Youtorrent is one of the first sites I have ever come across that work the same way, searching multiple torrent sites at the same time, while giving the tracker stats for each torrent which is fantastic.

      There are lots of other sites to use that are effective to search with such as torrentpond.com which allows you to search a list of torrent sites from a single page and then there is completorrent.com which was recommended by Secret Huamn, but the fact remains, these sites, although they have more sources to search from, are not nearly as convenient as Youtorrent.

      There is a site called Morrent.com who are offering live torrent tracker finder, so you can find alternative trackers for torrents or help to find more seeds for torrents. It works kind of like what YouTorrent do with torrent searches and Torrentz do by listing trackers for torrents.

      im surprised no one mentioned btmon;its search is even btr than torrentz and it provides link for hash search in Google and torrentz.Getting the list of trackers is bit time consuming but search results are better than torrentz.

      youtorrent is usefula nd intuitive but the earch database is rather limited imho.
