I’ve recently migrated from Microsoft Outlook to The Bat! email client to check my emails.

This is because Microsoft Outlook is a bit too bulky for a normal guy who periodically check emails.
Moreover, not to mention that Microsoft Outlook is always prone to being infected by viruses.
I’ve successfully imported all my emails and contacts from Microsoft Outlook to The Bat!.
Everything worked fine and it’s fast in the sense of receiving the email and also loads very quickly.
The Bat! is capable of checking your Gmail email account and I will show you how to configure The Bat! to do that.
1. Login to your Gmail account and enable POP.
Go to Settings -> Forwarding and POP -> Enable POP for all mail (even mail that’s already been downloaded)
* Did you click ‘Save Changes’ after enabling POP in Gmail? To ensure that Gmail can communicate with your mail client, be sure to click ‘Save Changes’ on the Gmail ‘Mail Settings’ page.
2. Launch The Bat!, select Account -> New…

3. Enter Account Name for you to identify your email account. Any name will do as it does not interfere with the email checking process.

4. Enter your full name and your Gmail E-mail address. Your full name will display to the recipient at From when you send an email. Organisation is optional.

5. Enter incoming mail server address as pop.gmail.com
Enter SMTP server address as smtp.gmail.com
Check My SMTP server requires authentication for sending mail

6. Enter your full Gmail email address as your Username and also your Gmail password.

7. Select Yes when asked whether Do you want to check all account’s settings now?

8. For Send mail, select Secure to regular port (STARTTLS) for connection and change the port to 587.
For Receive mail, select Secure to dedicated port (TLS) for connection and change the port to 995.

Finally, click on OK button and you should be able to check your Gmail account from The Bat! email client by pressing F2 or Alt+F2.
Table below is for your reference.
| Incoming Mail (POP3) Server – requires SSL: | pop.gmail.com Use SSL: Yes Port: 995 |
| Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server – requires TLS: | smtp.gmail.com (use authentication) Use Authentication: Yes Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL) Port: 465 or 587 |
| Account Name: | your Gmail username (including ‘@gmail.com’) |
| Email Address: | your full Gmail email address (username@gmail.com) |
| Password: | your Gmail password |
