That trouble at worst only amounts to it not working or not working as expected, i.e. it won\’t read the right values. It also needs configuring for a laptop if you want to use it. However, if not configured for your laptop but left enabled it only acts as a temperature safety switch for the CPU, the actual safety temperature at which it switches off being settable.
