LimeWire is a file sharing program running on the Gnutella Network. It is open standard software running on an open protocol, free for the public to use. LimeWire allows you to share any file such as .mp3s, .avis, .jpgs, .tiffs, etc. Limewire is written in Java, and will run on Windows, Macintosh, Linux, Sun, and other computing platforms. Basically there are two versions of LimeWire, Basic and Pro. Obviously LimeWire Basic version is the free version offered by LimeWire. As for the Pro version, there are many advantages over the Basic version but it requires you to pay $18.88 in order to download the Pro version and use it. By paying $18.88, you’ll be getting…

Free updates for up to ONLY 6 months? That’s like a rip-off! From LimeWire’s changelog, it looks like you’ll only be getting 1-2 official major updates out of 6 months! Beta? Would you want to use unstable beta especially P2P programs? Who knows there might be a bug that enable hackers to download everything off your computer.

No matter how much I felt being ripped-off by their Pro version, it’s still a very good P2P file sharing program and in my opinion, it’s the best.
