After many many months of beta testing Service Pack 3, the official stable Windows XP SP3 is finally here! Many tech websites announced the release of Windows XP Service Pack 3 to manufacturers (RTM) yesterday. I never post about beta updates or patches on operating systems because I wouldn’t advice you to install something that is not stable for your system. This time I am confident that the final version of Windows XP Service Pack 3 is here, and I am sharing this news with you.

Although the XP SP3 final version has been released to manufacturers, we, the end users can only download via Windows Update and the Microsoft Download Center on 29th April. If you can’t wait until the 29th of April, here’s how to be one of the first end users to install and use the final stable version of XP SP3.


A very well known and reputable cracking group Zero Waiting Time (ZWT) managed to obtain the XP SP3 RTM and released it to the “scene” with the name MICROSOFT.WINDOWS.XP.SERVICE.PACK.3.v5.1.2600.5512.RTM.ENGLISH-WZT
. The XP SP3 RTM final version first surfaced at ThePirateBay about 12 hours ago and was uploaded by a person named bgreen.

Here are some information on the Windows XP Service Pack 3 setup file:

  • Filename: WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe
  • Language: English Only
  • Size: 331,805,736 bytes in 1 file
  • SFV: C411A9DA
  • MD5: BB25707C919DD835A9D9706B5725AF58
  • SHA1: C81472F7EEEA2ECA421E116CD4C03E2300EBFDE4

    • After spending about 30 minutes to install XP Service Pack 3, I didn’t notice anything new after logging in except that it asked me whether to turn on the Automatic Updates. Well, Microsoft did state that SP3 is mostly a security, performance and stability update. So don’t expect any funky features in this release.

    Some people accuse team ZWT of releasing keygenerators and cracks with trojans but they do not do that. These groups have reputations which they are not going to tarnish it by embedding some lame trojans in their releases. Usually those files are tampered by other people who.

    I am sorry because I cannot provide the download link to Windows XP Service Pack 3 RTM final because Microsoft will definitely shut down this website. You can do a simple search on some of the “important” keywords that I’ve mentioned in this article. It is already available at torrent and rapidshare. Remember to check the HASH so you won’t download a modified one. Here’s how to check the HASH if you don’t know how. Download VisualHash, extract and run VisualHash.exe. Make sure you’re at the Hash Files tab, right click, select Add File… and locate WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe. Click the Compute Hashes button and wait for a few seconds. Refer the MD5 and SHA-1 values with the above. If it matches, then the file hasn’t been tampered.

      @debojit: I don’t think it’s RTM final version if you’ve downloaded from microsoft.com. Most probably it’s beta or release candidate. I heard from Michael that Technet has it.

      hi Raymond,visual hash is giving me an error”the application failed to initialize properly(0×0000135)….can it be rectified or is there any other way to check for the hash? also are these security features in sp3 useful ? cos i have avg and sygate firewall……

      After I installed SP3, some things funny happening with my laptop. First, the wireless connection got connect/disconnect alternatively every 1/2 second (which drove me crazy). It happens mostly for unbroadcasted SSID
      Installing SP3 had made some of the setting that I’ve made for the past 3 months to be restored.
      Well… since there’s no significant speed boost, I restore it back to SP2. Now my wireless works again.

      What was the problem that you all face when trying to install IE7 on Windows XP with SP3?

      I just installed a fresh copy of Windows XP Professional, updated it to SP2 first, then to SP3, and finally installed IE7. No problems at all.

      Blach is using the previous version of XP SP3 thats why he cannot upgrade to IE7. I’ve encountered it before but after downloading the final version it can be upgraded to IE7.

      Or if you have previous XP3, Uninstall it then upgrade first to IE7 then re-install SP3 the latest one.

      Since I cannot install ie7 on my slipstreamed SP3, I am using ie8 beta and it installed fine.

      I am using SP3 RTM. The problem, as MM pointed out, occurs when SP3 is slipstreamed.

      Well as it comes from you Raymond I tend to believe it\’s 100% OK. But until I saw your article I was under the impression that:
      1) MS had not released the package for slipstreaming and these guys on the bay had used nLite which is still in Beta – which may or may not work according to nLite themselfs.
      2) There is a problem with IE7 and Media player (not that I use them) getting hotfixes or rather not getting them through auto update after SP3 is installed. Although they do need them as they are not, or at least not all, are included in SP3. Something MS has yet to fix at their end.

      Have all these problems gone away or never existed in the first place. Or are we downloading Windows XP SP 2 & 3/4 and hoping nLite lives up to it\’s name of renown?

      juz to share.. i’m using ie8 beta on my pc n ie7 on my laptop.. i install sp3 on both.. after installation, restart and check registry (using winaso registry optimizer). ie8 n ie7 got registry prob then the prog fix it.. both ie8 n ie7 run smoothly.. owh yeah, i tink my laptop more faster after installed sp3 but juz the same as before on my pc..

      slipstreaming!!!!

      i saw somewhere that people who used XP PC to do the slipstreaming had no problem.
      People who used vista PC to do the slistreaming had problems.
      I’ve slipstreamed sp3 rtm using nlite on xp pc and had no problem installing it.

      When using a slipstreamed SP3, IE7 doesn\’t even show up in Microsoft Update. IE7 can now be downloaded and installed manually (didn\’t work a few days ago). So if it hasn\’t worked for you before, redownload it and it should work. It looks like Microsoft is going back to make all their updates SP3-slipstreamed-compatible. That would explain why Microsoft Update is not yet displaying many updates. They wouldn\’t install without modification! I\’m guessing that all the Sp3-slipstreamed-compatible updates will show up by the 29th.

      Thank you Blach for confirming my suspicions. \’Microsoft is going back to make their updates SP3 Slipstreamed -compatible\’ etc. i.e they are updating their updates to work with the new update so users can make a disk that is up to date. Well at least that\’s clear!

      bobotlito you are correct it does not slipstream on vista properly and is unlikely to ever do so unless N/Vlite does it for them.

      Given we have been waiting 4 years for this update since SP2 I suppose we can wait a little longer.
      MS will pretty much stop selling XP at all on the 30th of June. I believe that will be the time to burn a \’Grand Unified Disk\’. As MS will have pulled all worker from XP and wont release any more damage I mean fixes.

      Chris Keroack, XP SP3′s release manager is now telling us that it’s going to be delayed again.
      “In order to make sure customers have the best possible experience” I love that phrase, it conjures up apprehension that something unpleasant is about to happen. Has happened in fact to all those running RMS -a Microsoft product! If it breaks their own software which I image is a real problem for those running RMS what other delights are in store?

      Save your bandwidth and media for now the current 5512 is not final and even if they call it that to save face its MD5 will not be: BB25707C919DD835A9D9706B5725AF58
      Heaven knows what the RTM community think – maybe they will get another update/fix :o
