I am sure all computer technicians have to face with reinstalling Windows very often. After installing Windows, the nightmare starts when Windows don’t have generic drivers for a hardware. You need to identify the brand and model of the hardware and sometimes you even need to look for drivers using another computer when the owner of the computer says that he/she doesn’t have any driver CDs. To solve this problem, I’ve previously written an article on making a CD with all current drivers using DriverPacks but it only has drivers for Windows XP.

I’ve stopped using them for a while because I wasn’t happy with them. I written an article to promote their software and sent visitors to their site. In return of that, they threaten me with lawsuits saying that I can’t post screenshots of their software and I can’t use the word DriverPacks accusing that I stole their keywords. Obviously their attempt failed because their request is absurd. Think about this, they allow people to download and use DriverPacks for free but nobody can’t take screenshot and use the word “DriverPacks” on blogs. Where’s the logic in that?

Let’s forget about DriverPacks because I found a better one called DriverPack Solution 9 Professional.


DriverPack Solution 9 Professional is the most popular Russian program to automatically install drivers. It simplifies the process of reinstalling Windows on virtually any computer. Now you will be free from the problems of finding and installing drivers. The latest version even supports Windows Vista and Windows 7.

There are 2 versions of DriverPack Solution 9, the home and professional. Both versions are free and professional version offers slightly more features which is downloading from fast server, support for Windows 7 and loads missing drivers from the Internet. To get the Professional download link, you’ll need to sign up, get your personalized link and then get 5 different people to click on the link. Then the password to open the download page for Professional version will be sent to your email. To simplify this process, you can use a list of web proxies to open the link.

At the time of writing, this is the page and password to download the Professional version of DriverPack Solution 9. If it doesn’t work, you will need to go through the steps above. I will also try to update the details whenever I can.

The file size of the Professional version is about 1GB. After finished downloading, extract and you can burn it to a DVD. Simply run start.cmd to launch the program. It will then automatically scans for any drivers that requires to be installed. When found, check the drivers that needs to be installed and click Run. By default the interface of the program is in Russian but you can change it to English. Find the dropdown box like the image below and select the second one on the list which will turn the program’s interface into English.

DriverPack Solution 9 Professional is really good and useful but I still didn’t like the fact that it hijacks Internet Explorer’s default website and change it to start.drp.su. I find this action intrusive like what normally spyware does as it didn’t prompt me if I’d like to change my IE’s default webpage.

      Too bad you had such a bad experience with the guys from driverpack. I used to work with Driverpack, and asked if they could make a DVD that will install drivers after XP/Vista is running which is a MUCH faster. They responded as if they I asked them to changed their religion :)

      Nice soft and if it works then is a good arsenal. Thus the IE former address can be recovered after that the soft hijack it to start.drp.su. They could fix this because not everyone understand russian!

      Great Info Ray.

      Again, don’t hold this personal Ray, but I personally prefer Driver Packs to this program. Far superior and integrates directly onto your installation CD. However, if you are uncomfortable about re-installation or even a format and Re-install, I think Driver genius or any such Driver back up and restore program would be a more obvious choice.

      Just a thought: Using this DVD to access the net and install drivers will mean that I must atleast have my LAN or Wi-Fi drivers installed unless I have a Wireless connection that plugs into my USB.

      You really only need LAN drivers. You can just use Windows update to automatically install drivers. Granted, Windows drivers don’t work with tools like ATT, or even Catalyst Control Center, but they are good enough for the average joe who doesn’t use those features.

      To fix the browser hijack and the language:
      -Open the ‘Tools’ folder
      -Open ‘config.js’ with Notepad
      -Change ‘lang’ to have ‘en’ instead of ‘ru’
      -Change ‘startPageIns’ to have ‘false’ instead of ‘true’

      and that’s it!

      Thank you so much Ray I have been looking for a good driver program for years. Only question I have is can I make an ISO of it and run it in a virtual drive? I don’t have disks and no way to get any.

      hello Raymond,

      i have been trying the download ever since u posted the link, n yesterday it started download at average 20 kb/s(i have DSL, n otherwise this knod of loads should be around an hour or so) but after 700 MB of download, it stopped reading from the source.
      even right now i m trying again with the same speed it is still showing some ten hours more
      is this stuff so bulky? any solutions?

      thanks ray! great post, i use driver scanner pro 2009 and works great to me with no hassle whenever i have a problem finding drivers in my pc after i reformat cause it automatically find the right drivers in my pc.

      go to options / set convenient startpage to disable

      to not allow the prog to change your ie startpage.

      once you change the language defaults to english it remains in english after prog restart

      if you get loads of script errors after changing to default to english (and everything still being in Russian), safe the “config.js” again but change “utf-8″ to “ansi”

      how to:
      open config.js in notepad,
      if u havnt done so change the settings as written by “too”,
      click on “file
      go to “save as”
      and right at the bottom of the window at coding change the setting to “ANSI”and save,
      voila, done

      btw no need to burn it runs on drie or stick as well

      thanks ray looks promising, i will test it on different machines and look how good it really is, can one update the drivers without having to download the hole thing again ? anyone ?

      Nice Software.But doesn’t offer updated drivers.
      Changed To ANSI from UTF-8
      Changed to En-English
      BTW i did what “too” and “jimjocker” said…
      But Still have 1 Script error.And show more script errors when trying to install/download drivers.
