I hope you do not encounter problems in including subtitles for downloaded divx movies. If you find that searching for subtitles from websites to websites is tedious and troublesome, then here’s an easy way for you to search subtitles in 7 websites simultaneously and lets you download the subtitle file without even opening your web browser!
Subcrawler is a free program, 100% written in Java, that allows you to search for and download subtitles from various web sites.

Currently Subcrawler supports searching and downloading subtitles from 7 websites which is listed below. Out of the 7 websites, 2 websites that is podnapisi.NET and subtitlesbox requires you to register in order to search. Registration is FREE. Actually Divxsubtitles also requires registration in order to download subtitle files but I found out that Subcrawler is using a default already included login which is demo@divxsubtitles.net with the password “demo“. Looks like there’s a hidden default password for that site…
- podnapisi.NET (Requires Registration)
- subtitlesbox (Requires Registration)
- Divxstation
- Divxsubtitles
- Greek Divx Subtitles
- DVD.Stuff
- TiTLES
If you want SubCrawler to search for subtitles in podnapisi.NET and subtitlesbox, you need to sign up for a free account first. After registering free account on podnapisi.NET and subtitlesbox, run SubCrawler and right click on the Name and select “settings“. Enter the username and password that you just registered. To download subtitles from SubCrawler after searching, right click on the subtitles and select Download. Very simple and straight forward program that does the job.
I like software that has the feature of able to check for program updates. This way we are able to easily keep the program up to date without visiting the website daily, weekly or monthly to check if there’s a new version to download. By default, SubCrawler checks for latest version on startup. You can disable it at Tools -> Settings. If you want to manually check for update, you can go to Help -> Check for latest version.

To run Subcrawler, you need to have Java installed. If you don’t have it, you can download the Subcrawler package that has JAVA included. Good thing about program written in Java is it can support multiple operating system. Subcrawler is available for Linux users as well!

This is one of the sweetest blog postings I have ever read. I hope to mean the world to someone one day to.
You are a prince. Thankyou for such good information. I burn quite a lot of subs as I really enjoy foreign films. Sometimes just changing the subs title to exactly mirror the .avi file (except for the .srt of course) just doesn\’t work. No subs appear. I always try to find the subs which have been downloaded by the same person but of course that isn\’t always possible. This is enormously frustrating to me. I generally use VLC to view my efforts on my PC.
all tech advice says the same as you – just make sure the two file names are identical etc etc – so I think there must be something I am not understanding.
Thankyou again for your advice and I do hope you can help me. Cheers. Sally in Australia
Subs by MRK
adresse:
misterk44.free.fr/subs.html
Cela permet d\’aller plus vite dans la recherche de sous-titres.
Les sites en question sont plutôt spécialisés dans les films.
and what about opensubtitles.org ? :) I think this program should really support it, hehe
Another website that you can go to find subtitles is subscene.com
I’m not worthy I’m not worthy!!!!
Thank for this!
Brilliant post! Never knew you could do this!
