Ever had such an annoying message given by Windows?
Error Deleting File Or Folder

It has many other similar errors:

  • Cannot delete file: Access is denied.
  • There has been a sharing violation.
  • The source or destination file may be in use.
  • The file is in use by another program or user.
  • Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.
  • You’ve checked and is very sure that all programs are closed, but you’re still unable to delete, rename or move the files/folders.
The ultimate solution to this problem is…

    The Unlocker!
    1. Simply right click the folder or file and select Unlocker
Right click the folder or file and select Unlocker

    2. If the folder or file is locked, a window listing of lockers will appear
Window listing of lockers will appear if the folder or file is locked

    3. Simply click Unlock All and you are done!

    Ohh… and this is a FREEWARE ;)

    [ Download Unlocker v1.8.5 ]

On right click, its shows auto play feature twice, its a virus i guess, any help???

I’ve got the Unlocker but it doesn’t work. I run on XP. The files on the desktop are TorrentReactor.to files – there are around a dozen of them. I right-click the files but the Unlocker doesn’t appear in the options. I’ve tried dragging it to them, dragging them to it, rebooted, clean installed the programme again etc etc. I’ve deleted these files from from my p2p but can’t shift them from the desktop – I can’t delete, rename or do anything with the files on the desktop even though they are not in use. Anyone got any more ideas?

I read on another forum about going through administrator but it won’t allow me to even log on to administrator, even though I am the administrator! I’ve been trying to get rid of these files for nearly two months and have tried everything I can think of.

      Hi Raymond,

Chance upon your webbie when googling your site for missing safely remove software icon in the tray. You have a great site & thanks for all the tips & guides.

I have downloaded the Unlocker but it keeps popping up “Error Debug Privileges” when I right click & select Unlocker. Is there any way to work around it?

Then I saw on another article – “FileASSASSIN”. I like the fact that it’s portable (no need to install).
But it can only kill process of known files. In the event if I wanted to safely remove a USB drive and I don’t know what process is tied to it, I don’t think FileASSASSIN will prove useful here.

Is there any alternative to Unlocker yet is portable like FileASSASSIN?

Cheers to a great IT tip webby!

On the right hand screen double click “Debug Programs”
Click the “Add User or Group” button
      Click the “Advanced” button
      Click the “find now” button
select your “user logon name” and then click the “Ok” button} these operation but Still I receive the error message as “error debug privileges” Check FAQ on http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/.
