Trend Micro has been around for a very very long time. Back then it was called PC-Cillin and now is renamed to Trend Micro. I still remembered the first time I heard of PC-Cillin when I was using my cousin’s 100Mhz computer. I wasn’t a big fan of Trend Micro antivirus products because it always didn’t score well when put being tested by AV-Test. The latest report shows that Trend Micro Internet Security 2010 ranks either second lowest or the lowest when compared to other commercial antivirus such as Norton, Kaspersky, G Data, Panda, Avira, F-Secure, Bitdefender, CA and PC Tools. On my latest antivirus 2010 performance test report, Trend doesn’t seem to put a lot of load on the Windows computer and it was even able to successfully block a crypted Bifrost trojan when many others failed to do so…

      @ss: I love Avast 5 the very much. So I recommend it to all my friends. But I use KIS CBE win7 in my laptop because of its powerful firewall and application control. Also I keep trying different AV in my test pc.

      I was using KIS 2010 and got hit with XP-antispyware 2010 virus (AV.exe). Unfortunately Kaspersky could not identify or block this common virus spreading through the advt. sites (number of people reporting on Kaspersky forum). So I have lost faith on Kaspersky and may try another one.

      Heck, I’ve got six months left on a KIS 2010 license, but I am kind of tempted. I’m surprised as Raymond said that Trend Micro comes last or second last in comparison to other AntiMalware. I’ve always felt they were up there with the best.

      There is no need to go to a paid or limit time trial (and, while 1 year is a long time, it is still a limited time trial) AV solution when there are so many free ones out there who are rated just as good, if not better.

      Install Microsoft Security Essentials instead and get the same protection, without having to scramble to replace it (or pony up $$$) after a year.

      Everyone’s thanking Raymond for this article… and I agree with that; but there’s yet another thing to thank him for…

      …and that’s the email newsletter which brought most of us here. Raymond has changed it… for the better!

      Previously, Raymond’s email newsletters basically contained the entire article, graphics, and ADVERTISING and all. The problem with that was that what a browser might be willing to tolerate in terms of scripting, most email clients won’t tolerate. And so every time Raymond sent one of his email newsletters containing the entire article, the browser would kick a pop-up error message and “Do you want to run this script?” dialog… a minimum of four times per newsletter, and sometimes up to nine times… each one requiring user intervention to clear before the article finally appeared in the email client. It was maddening!

      At my (and who knows however many others’) suggestion, Raymond has now changed his newsletter so that it contains only the first few sentences of the article, with and ellipsis [...] to indicate that the article continues in a browser window on his web site if the reader will simply click on the headline.

      That is ABSOLUTELY the best way to do it… the way that all the web marketing gurus recommend. That way, the reader is driven to the web site itself, and doesn’t just read the article in the email client and may be never visits the actual web site.

      So, thank you, Raymond, for finally making that change. It’s been much needed, and it’s much appreciated.

      Personally I don’t trust Trent Micro products, back in 90s I bought a legit copy after one of their definition updates I kept getting virus warning, emailing them few times regarding it never got any response. I was forced to format the pc but kept few important data in diskette and lost the rest. After about week there was a noticed on their site stated it was false positive due to faulty virus definition or something. I will never use PC-Cillin / Trent Micro again.

      ive been using this on a new pc with threatfire for two months,was a die hard avira free user but had this on cd and decided to try it.
      Up to now not had any problems the only thing is if you dont know what your doing i wouldnt use it everything seems to be hidden away rather than a straight forward console you have to search for things,micro soft essentials someone mentioned i think is cack,daughter got a new pc last week and it already allowed something to be downloaded so im gonna delete it and put trend on that as well

      this is a bad idea to using this AV :(
      much resource needed, and much bandwidth using while updating virus definition.
      personally, i choose NOD32 than other AV Provider.
      i found what i need on NOD32, less resource, more protection :)

      I’m Using karpexsky and i find it very slow in loading at startup , very poor connection to update servers and very hard to reach to certain feutures like if you want view the running processes , the function is hidden in the settings.
