I always think that PC Tools products such as Spyware Doctor, ThreatFire, Privacy Guardian and etc has a lot of potential. Their software are low in system resource usage, easy to use and comes in nice graphical user interface. Their most popular product Spyware Doctor which received many many awards has recently gone through a major update from v5.5 to v6. Although the interface for Spyware Doctor v6 with AntiVirus still looks the same as v5.5, but it has a lot of improvements to protect your computer from known/unknown spyware and virus.

The key enhancements for the latest Spyware Doctor 6 are latest protection from unknown threats with Behavior Guard, improved detection capabilities, swift clean-up for heavily infected computers and improved Hacker Defense (for Windows Vista) and many other minor fixes and updates.

There are a few options if you’d like to try out the latest Spyware Doctor. First is to download and install the trial version which offers time unlimited real-time protection (free spyware blocking), but does not remove threats detected during on-demand scans. Secondly you can download Spyware Doctor 6 Starter Edition offered by VNU. Open the email from PC Tools Account Activation (sales@pctools.com) with the subject “Please verify your PC Tools email address”‏. Click the link that says “To activate your account please click here”.

4. A web page will open containing your license name and license code for Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus, Privacy Guardian and PC Tools Firewall Plus. Note down the license name and license code.

5. Download the software that you want to install.

You might notice that I did not mention much about PC Tools Firewall Plus. This is because this product is already offered as free or charge for everyone and you don’t need any special promotion to get the license key code. Get it fast before this great offer expires!       if you use privacy guardian and your using firefox uncheck firefox as it wipes out your prefs rdf and does not touch your cache or history, i think it’s a bug.

      No longer works. They must have had to much traffic!!
      now, when you click a link from the westpac site you just end up on pctools page but with no special registration form or anywhere to enter details. no mention of any offer either, it is just the usual pctools page.
      Too late for me I guess :(

      As far as I can tell it automatically links the name to the email address you provided.If i’m not mistaken Emsisoft (Asquared) uses the same procedure.

      Thanks Raymond, i installed spyware doctor but i have problem well the product was installed registered, but i have problem with internet is not working with ie7 or mozilla, the modem is working good, i turned off the spyware doctor and restart the computer and is working good the internet but i don’t what is going on with spyware doctor must be the setting any suggetions can you please post anyhitng in your next edition thank you.

      One small point – I have been running PC Tools Registry Mechanic for two years as a fully paid licence. I just got a charming email from them stating my licence was due for renewal in August. It went on in soothing tones to assure me that I needn’t worry – that the renewal fee would be taken directly from the same place as last time (presumably my creditcard) and all would be well. I followed all the links and reread the email – and searched every page on their site and nowhere was the opportunity presented to say “NO THANKS – I’LL RENEW WHEN I WANT AND NOT WHEN YOU DECIDE!”. I thought this a damned liberty and wrote to say so and complain. Within 36 hrs I had an email from the subscriptions dept confirming my cancellation. Now why do they have to employ such sharp practice if their product is so good?

When I followed the instructions, I was taken to the westpac page where I clicked on spyware doctor with antivirus. It took me to the official PC Tools website where there was a list of downloads to choose from. Nowhere did I find any registration form through which I could signup get this fabulous product. On the PC Tools website there was the option of becoming registred. But the details they wanted did not correspond with what you had mentioned.
