The latest 2011 version of antivirus engine from Trend Micro (or use to known as PC-Cillin) is called Titanium and uses Cloud technology. The good thing about cloud based antivirus is it is supposed to be light on your system and don’t require hourly or daily virus definition updates. In my opinion, cloud based antivirus works best when you are connected to the Internet as the analyzing of suspicious file and detection is performed on the remote server rather on local computer. Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2011 license is being sold at a pretty high price of $69.95 per year because other than an antivirus module, it also includes data theft prevention, parental controls and antispam.
Thanks to jhzhu17 for informing that there is a promotion for Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2011 which allows anyone to get a 1 year license for free but with a catch that the user interface is in Chinese (NOT AGAIN!). Before you stop reading, I have a good news which is I managed to analyzed on how to change the graphical user interface to English. You would be one of the first to learn how to do it from this website, just like changing from Chinese to English interface for Kaspersky which is now widespread but unfortunately not credited :( Anyway, continue reading if you would like to get your free 1 year Trend Micro Internet Security 2011 license and also learn how to change from Chinese to English interface.
1. Download the Trend Micro Internet Security 2011 setup based on your Windows operating system.
32Bit (x86): TTi_3.0_MR_32bit_Tencent12.zip
64Bit (x64): TTi_3.0_MR_32-64bit_Tencent12.zip
2. Extract and run the executable to install. The installation would be in Chinese, so simply follow the step-by-step instruction based on the screenshot below.
3. Right click on the Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2011 tray icon at the notification area and select the last option to terminate the program.
4. Now go to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\UniClient\UiFrmwrk\ and open UIProfile.cfg file with your text editor such as Notepad.
5. At line 75 and 85 which shows ZH-CN, change both of it to EN-US and save the changes.
6. Now run Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2011 shortcut either from desktop or Start Menu. You will notice that the splash screen is now showing in English. Not only that, even all the shortcuts has been magically renamed to English wordings.
Do note that this is still a trial license but legitimately prolonged for 1 year instead of the normal 30 days. I could have figured this out much sooner and have this posted yesterday but I couldn’t because of my fussy baby that cries so much that is causing me to go in to Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) mode :P Anyway, remember that you first learn this from Raymond.CC Technology Blog.

i installed trend micro and had been successful in converting it to english.
the problem that i face is that it doesn’t load on startup and scan options are not there when you right click any file…i hve chosen default balanced option in startup settings…the prob remains same in other two options too..
It doesn’t work for me, when I installed it, pressed the exit button and changed it to english, it didn’t open.

This is the best internet security in my opinion. The company also is so generous that the 1-year-free-trial campain is still valid. According to my tests Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2011 outperforms AVG Internet Security 2011 for it is lighter and more reliable. I still believe so no matter what the PC Gurus claim it is crap!
Kelvin you must change the security proprieties of the file. Right click on it, proprieties -> security -> Edit and change the permissions allowing the write on the file.

Once you install exit the program from the tray. Then give yourself full permission in the security settings under properties.
Then go to the .cfg file and open with notepad++ make changes to the EN-US Language and save.

You know for a college student, spending $$ on antivirus is not really an option.

Why so complicated way to install? Download one Zip/Rar file, extract it and You get new exe-file. Now make new folder and extract this exe-file to new folder using WinRar or 7zip or or PowerArchiver or ..Open folder and make setup.ini file copy. Now open setup.ini with Notepad and replace in 2 places SupportLanguagesID=2052 with SupportLanguagesID=1033 and DefaultLanguageID=2052 with DefaultLanguageID=1033, save/overwrite file setup.ini and You are done. Now install and enjoy.

Raymond, I am very new to computers. I have Windows 7, please don’t laugh, But I have a tiny problem…… How does one run a program as administrator? I got all the language for this program offered but it said that I was denied for saving the English changing. I did all as was instructed…Please help. I think Navajos like me are just getting into this modern age. My family thinks it’s funny. Thank you .

To those having problems not being able to save the changes from ZH-CN to EN-US I had the same problem, here’s what worked for me.
After changing ZH-CN to EN-US choose “save as” and place it in a different folder (your choice where) and save as all files (not text), then copy that file and place it into the original one “C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\UniClient\UiFrmwrk\” it will ask you if you want to replace the original, so replace. then close and launch the desktop shortcut, worked for me hope it helps.

But need help on this, can’t modify the UiProfile on my computer due to Admin restrictions (although I am the admin) to change to English – I can read Chinese but I rather stick to English which would be more convenient, many thanks
- ps i’ve tried the basic admin restriction tools like unticking the folder’s ‘read-only’ option to make it modifiable but that don’t make any difference

I had some minor annoyances while intalling TTi. It wanted to uninstall all of my other security apps – NortonSafeWeblite. Microsoft Security Essentials, Immunet, and Avira. Since I cannot read Chinese, it took me a few attemps at installation before I figured out what was going on. After manually uninstalling the above apps, the installation of TTi and the conversion to English went smoothly.

It works fine. If download got error msg please download again the installer. I had problem the first time so installed the installer again.
For changing to english , follow what raymond advise , open up the notepad then save to your desktop first don’t seva directly too the target. Then go to the C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\UniClient\UiFrmwrk\ delete the original ‘UIProfile.cfg’ then copy your saved cfg from the desktop to that location. then it will be fully english …

CWD_XP – is your installation of Trend still working? I tried your solution, but after installing, Trend is greyed out and repeatedly asking to Restart the PC to fix.
I enventually gave up and tried Raymond’s standard solution and it works fine but 2 options are still in Chinese – Trend Micro Account and Check Subscription.
Has anyone been successful in changing these?
I follow step-by-step just like what Raymond mention above and it works.

I found a way to convert the installation completely to English before the installation starts.
1. User 7-Zip to extract the contents of the installer EXE file.
2. Open setup.ini file using notepad.
3. Change the value of the following field to 1033 which is the language ID for EN-US.
SupportLanguagesID
DefaultLanguageID
4. Run setup.exe to start the installation.
This way the installation will be completely in English.

I had two experiences to share.
1. It is likely that notepad is unable to save the .cfg file after modification. So I downloaded “Notepad ++ 5.8.3″ from filehippo.com and it did the magic. The file was saved without any trouble after I modified it.
2. Raymond.cc is now not opening in any of my browsers. thats true. I had to use german proxy “proxy-service.de” to read the last instructions through this service. I have added your site to trusted domain in trendmicro but results are same.
I am still trying to figure it out !!!
can anyone help…. is there any special check in this version of the trendmicro as both come from China.
it disable the protedtion.when i restart it remain unprotected.when i remove the tick from icon tray from protection against virus and spyware it retsarts but after restart it remaims disabled.

tks Ray. Sorry for your baby. If you are entering into BSOD mode, imagine how he or she is feeling. When mine were babies, the girl used to have gases frequently and also cried A LOT! I used to give her specific medicine and lay her down on my hand ( facing the floor ) and walked with her all over the house. That used to calm her very fast.

- It does’t remove maware
- It doesn’t clean existing infestations.
