Until today I’d still say screw (pardon me) the free Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 for attendees and hosts of Windows 7 launch parties promotion. It has been annoyingly “posted everywhere” and finally when the day comes, you need to enter the party host’s email address to receive the license. I knew it was too good to be true or impossible for Kaspersky to be that generous, that’s why I didn’t have a blog post on that. Well some lucky and smart people are able to “google” for the host’s email address but still Kaspersky deactivated a lot of codes that were obtained fraudulently. Even for those free 6 months KIS or KAV license from magazine promotions were also strictly being monitored and immediately terminated when they found out it has been leaked.
Enough for the rant and let’s get to the real thing. Today I am going to share with you a unique tip on how to get Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 license for FREE which has not been posted at anywhere yet. Do you still remember that ComputerBild, one of the best selling German language computer magazine in Europe that is giving out free Kaspersky Security Suite CBE? Five months ago I’ve written on how to install the latest version of CBE 2009 and today it will be about CBE Win7 which is the same as Kaspersky Internet Security 2010.
Note: If you already have a ComputerBild account, you can jump straight to step 3.
1. Go to this page and fill up the form to register for an account at computerbild.de.
2. Check your email. You should get an email from ComputerBild with confirmation link to activate your account. Click on the link.
3. Go to this page http://www.computerbild.de/Kaspersky-Security-Suite-CBE-09-4280623.html
4. If you’re asked to login, enter your Computerbild’s username and password. If you see something like the screenshot below, check the second checkbox to request for the Kaspersky Security Suite CBE Win7 license key and click the “Lizenzschlüssel anfordern” button.
5. Check your email again and this time you’ll get an email containing the license key to activate Kaspersky Security Suite CBE Win7. (The license key that you get will always be the same. So don’t bother requesting multiple times with different accounts)
6. Download latest Kaspersky Security Suite CBE Win7 and install. Now everything is in German. If you can understand German language, then you don’t really need to change the language to English. For others, continue the steps.
7. After installation and Kaspersky Security Suite CBE 09 is running, click the Einstellungen button on the top right to bring up the settings window.
8. Click Einstellungen at the left navigation and uncheck Selbstschutz aktiveren. Click OK to close the Einstellungen window.
9. Download and run this registry hack to change the Kaspersky from German to English. After running the registry file, feel free to go through the step 8 again to check the “Enable Protection”.
10. You can either Restart your computer or terminate Kaspersky Security Suite CBE Win7 and run it again to see the changes. See the image below, Kaspersky Security Suite CBE Win7 german interface has been changed to Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 ENGLISH!
You will see that the license has only 61 days remaining. When the license is expired, all you need to do is go through step 3 by logging in to your computerbild account and request another new updated Kaspersky Security Suite CBE license key which will give you another 3 months subscription. The license key can only be used on Security Suite CBE and won’t work on Kaspersky Internet Security or Kaspersky Anti-Virus.
Unfortunately this is only for Windows 7 users. You CANNOT install Kaspersky Security Suite CBE Win7 on XP or Vista. If you are still using XP or Vista, you should check out this article that I’ve written 5 months ago.

sorry about that you DON”T NEED TO RUN THE REGISTRY EDITOR just change the de to en
you don’t need the reg hack for language change
In the right pane, click on Einstellungen. (settings)
Deselect and untick the Selbstschutz aktiveren option.
Click OK to close the Einstellungen window.
Shutdown and exit any Kaspersky process (by right click on Kaspersky icon and select Beenden).
Run Registry Editor (RegEdit.exe).
Navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KasperskyLab\protected\AVP9\environment
or,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KasperskyLab\protected\AVP9\environment
Change the value of Localization to en from “de”.
click out of the regedit and reboot …english
Thank you Raymond for the post and help. The installation went very smoothly except changing the german language to english, but i figured it out. It is exactly the same way as the cbe 2009, but with one of the directory AVP9 to change the language to english. I hope this helps.

Few points:
1.The Shift+F12 thing doesn’t permanently change the language from German > English. every time u restart system, ur back to german.
2. The most irritating thing is even if u apply the reg hack for language change, it does change the help file language. it will remain it German.
3.this CBE suite doesn’t have the safe run option, as of in KIS 2010.
4.This version is really slow than the KIS 2010.
This security suite slow down my pc.Any one have solution for this.

Yes, appears to install and run fine on Win7, but remains German, on my Dell shift F12 and then shift F5 don’t change the language, even temporarily.

I am also using Win 7 x64.. Shift +F12 and also another method of modifying the registry entry location to en from de causes the software to give error….
Is there any permanent method to correct to english version ??
the only problem that i see with using the Shift +F12 is that it’s temporary .. once you restart the computer, it goes back to it’s original language ..

I want to correct my post of 12/13 @1:34PM: I did not load it onto Vista Home: I intended to but decided not in lieu of another program @ the very last second. I was working on three computers @ once and errored in my original post.
Some softhead, whoever made the registry patch to enable english forgot about x64 users. IT WILL NOT WORK FOR YOU IF YOU ARE RUNNING x64. Make the following changes to the reg file:
ORIGINAL:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KasperskyLab\protected\AVP9\environment]
CHANGE TO:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KasperskyLab\protected\AVP9\environment]
Basically its just added into the Wow6432Node which is required for Local Machine nodes in winx64.

The registry hack did work but I need to replace “AVP8″ with “AVP9″
Start—>regedit—>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KasperskyLab\protected\AVP9\environment and Change the value of Localization to “en” from “de”.

For those who are held up in changing the language to English from German. Just do the following.
bring Kaspersky CBE interface to focus (just click its title)
now Press Shift + F12
there you go. the language is changed to English.
if you have a laptop, you may have to press the function key as well.

By mistake I loaded to Vista Home and it’s working fine. Some how when I requested a license on their site, another site window opened of theirs and I down loaded the whole Suite right there. When I opened it, the language window appeard for English and the rest downloaded without a hitch. Just dumb luck.
I have to say, why bother….
They’ll find out, pull it, deactivate it.
Don’t want to be ungrateful, but every time I tried one of these suggestions, it’s either failed, or got pulled very shortly after. May as well stick with security essentials, avira or avast.

Everything went well, many thanks for the post. I was able to download and install everything as said. I also got a three month key from kasper.
There is one problem. In my windows 7, I am absolutely unable to change the registry key. The localisation from de to en does not work. I have tried to change the permissions. tried regedt32 instead of regedit but nothing seems to work. I guess I will have to start learning German. (so far google translations are working for me) :)

A Very Simple Way to Switch Language
Double click on the KIS tray icon. So the KIS will be active. Just press Shift + F12 , In no time the front end will be in English.

For how long is this key valid?
FWIW, evidently this doesn’t work with the RTM version of Windows7. Not only did it (evidently) leave various detritus after failing to install but it invalidated the activation and caused an assortment of other problems.
System restore (mostly) fixed it but it isn’t an experience that I’d recommend to others.

Old method to get key should work for getting keys for cbe win7. as after registering i got mail that:-
You will receive the license key for your version of Kaspersky Security Suite CBE 09/Win7. Please write down this key, or print it. You will need it to activate after installing the Kaspersky Security Suite CBE 09/Win7 too.
Detailed information on installing the Kaspersky Security Suite CBE 09/Win7 visit the Heft-CD/DVD each issue of COMPUTER or COMPUTER BILD BILD Security Center. For questions, please contact: Leserfragen.kaspersky-vollversion @ computerbild.de

Could be very useful if Rapidshare ever completes the downloads. 8 minutes for a 73 mb file on a fat pipe is ridiculous.
Any chance of uploading this to another site? Just about any place is better than Rapidshare. Like Megaupload, maybe?
