Lavasoft is one of those companies that you used to hear about a lot in the past, but as of recent, has become less and less popular. While I’ve only used the Lavasoft Ad-Aware Free version back in 2008 when I was infected with Vundo, I have not used it as of recent, instead relying on the services of ESET and MBAM as you could most likely tell by my screenshot yesterday. It used to be one of those big programs, along with Spybot – Search and Destroy that I knew could tackle any known malware on the market. But recently, they have fallen by the wayside as new malware has stepped up in ways we never would have expected, such as polymorphic malware as well as rootkits, constantly adjusting the way it acts and looks to antivirus scanners, leading to advanced tools such as HijackThis, WinPatrol, and GMER. This is not, however to say that Ad-Aware is past it’s prime, rather, as part of a layered security setup, it is just one more step to prevent infections.
As for having to grab this promotion, it couldn’t be any simpler. I missed the AdAware – though not sulking about that. I too included AdAware as a matter of course in the security suite on every client PC – UNTIL the Anniversary Edition which simply grew horns and caused all number of problems. I dropped it like a hot brick thereafter and turned to SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and Spybot.
I did get a copy of the vanilla version of Burning Studio about a year ago – having used Nero and others. I have to say that in my opinion BurningStudio comes up smelling of roses EVERY time – it is a pleasure to use. I now have a copy of this latest iteration thanks to you ! EXCELLENT WORK – there ain’t nobody stealing your crown as the only “MUST READ” site online ! Thank you so much !

There is no registration step. Just install and it will activate by itself giving you a full 1 year license. However the promo has already expired and probably the activation server has blocked further activation.
tried 3 times to download each time it said 100% downloaded, but never went to next screen for registering
@H3adShot76 and longfeng, it means the server’s busy. Activate it before it the end of the time, and that’s going to get you the full version.
I managed to download the installer and activate it just before it expires. Definitely works but sending a 100MB file to thousands of users simultaneously may have caused the download to stop half way.
It is nearly impossible to download as it stops without warning during downloading.
It is not the PLUS version but the free version. Sad…. not as advertised in v3stores.

I am running Avast! home (free) , as my active (Resident) Anti-Virus) . I suspect, as I haven’t had time to read all details and am downloading now in a hurry, that as in the past AdAware can be “dumbed down” (I’m hoping) to be a “On Demand” scanner ?
Does anybody knows how good is it as a stand-alone A-V programm ?
