I am sure you have heard of LimeWire and FrostWire which is a pretty useful software to download music, movies, files from P2P and bittorrent networks. I currently have Windows 7 Ultimate x64bit installed on my desktop and Windows XP MCE 2005 on my laptop. Before I had XP Pro on my desktop and my download speed was 30Mbps. Now on my desktop its barely 6Mbps and the laptop is still the same 20Mbps cause its wireless. So its deff Windows 7 that slowed down my download speed!. Please help!!!
The program works perfect for me on my Windows Xp Pro! Even when I have like tons of windows open, it still works perfectly!
MS, I suggest getting “CleanMem”… that should solve your crashing problems. :)

I had the same issue. I unchecked the boxes because I didn’t want the toolbar and what did it do? It installed the toolbar. it was a pain in the ass to remove but I got it uninstalled. And this program uses ALOT OF CPU. And I have a 2.4ghz with 3gb of ram…c’mon I can use Both PhotoshopCS2, Lightroom 2.6 and have FF open and still work on my computer. My computer literally crashed while using Skydownloader; it was annoying and not worth $49; I don’t care if it’s free. I won’t be using that.
Nobody says nothing about the damn Ask Toolbar that this program installs it,whether you want it or not.Anyway,i used JvPower Tools software uninstaller,and puff!…bye bye Ask toolbar!

On this occassion, i will not bother it is not very user friendly, also blocks files, that are not permiited, uses a lot of CPU, interferes with java Script, i have uninstalled it.

Thanks Raymond for the direct link without tweeting. It is just the same as Limewire, but better. Just to inform people here that it does install some stuff of the Ask.com. However, I removed it from “Add Remove Programs” and the Skydownloader works fine without the Ask.com component. It does install under C:/Program Files/Ask.com. That could be hogging some resources, I think. Thanks Ray.
I thank you for this very nice program Raymond is it just great. Installed perfect. Looked it over tv player radio etc. This is a very nice file sharing program. I read a few posts about this program if they look in the options of the program they can change a few of the settings so it doesn’t run at start up etc. Then this malware thing I read here. let’s be honest about malware. most of the customers I get with malware from P2P is they went to porn in there and they got highjacked. I have been using Frostwire in Linux Ubuntu and Mint no malware there. And I have used Bearshare, and Limewire. Never got hit with malware. But I am not one to waste my time on looking for porn on the net. I have better things to do. So all in all the p2p programs are save if you know how to protect yourself. And I for one have to say I follow you blogs and your site. And you are honest and fair to all. And to help people out in these bad times I think is very commendable on your part. And Thank you for the very nice program you posted. I use windows xp but I like Mint and Ubuntu also. I use all three Os’s. And again thank you Raymond you are doing everyone a great service.
I have to say Raymond. That times are tough. And P2P file sharing isn’t bad. I have never got any malware etc. From P2P. and I have more troubles with IE of picking up junk that anything else I have got from the net. And to think of the legality issues raised by a few of the posts here. I am astounded that people think it is piracy. I believe that anything through the net should be free. You can not say that microsoft doesn’t steal. Well look at the picture there if you are sitting at home then you are bombarded by their crazy updates and WGA’s and the likes that is an invasion of my privacy by invading my home to install those updates if I wasn’t looking for them. And they charge high prices for a lot of their things plus have ads in everything of their’s from their so called sponsors. So how can anyone say that P2P is piracy is amazing to me. And I thank you for the great product. I have been wanting a new P2P and you helped me find it Thank You.

Kind of have to echo some previous comments about the ethical nature of P2P Software, not from the earlier posters ethics, but from my standpoint as a Dedicated Malware Cleaner .
With modern day Malware Cleaning we insist that anyone wanting help to clean up an infected computer not have any P2P software, whilst working on your machine.
Bleeping Computers, Geeks to Go, Malware Removal Uni, are were I’m mainly based and we get a badly infected computer every five minutes.
This isn’t really an Ethical issue with me, we find a lot of infected P.C.’s have P2P software, and have picked up Malware through the use of this software .
I have to abide by the terms of service to clean Malware at such sites. So, basically if you do get infected, whith P2P installed, no reputable Malware removal site will help, … unless you uninstall it.
Not a big one, just some info.
P2P is not the greatest vulnerability online, nevertheless it does carry some implicit potential threats .

1. This gnutella engine this program uses is 100% identical to the latest version of Frostwire, the only difference is the “popular” and “bittorrent” pages.
2. You don’t need to fill in your emails or anything if you want to install this on more than one computer just use the installer you downloaded its not activated or anything.

I dunno if im correct, but i can only run this software when im connected to a USA proxy..If not, i’ll be stuck at 16% or 20% in the splash screen. Also, once i disconnect from the USA proxy IP address, Skydownloader hangs..perhaps some of u can provide some feedback? thanks~
