Get Returnil Virtual System 2010 Home Lux 1 Year Free License If You Haven’t!

Perhaps you are wondering why haven’t I wrote anything on the new Returnil Virtual System 2010 which was released 2 months ago? The simple reason is I was very disappointed with their version 2008 because it failed to protect the computers from certain virus. This is the story…. I wanted to propose to one of my customer to use Returnil because the computers in the lab has never ending computer virus infection problem and I had to look for another technology that might be better than the traditional antivirus. Of course before doing that I need to do a test run to make sure it can really protect those computers from being infected by virus or else my customer would be wasting his money and I am definitely going to lose my job.

I installed a trial version of Returnil 2008 on a computer lab with 40 computers and within a few days, at least half of them ended up unable to boot in Windows which I am pretty sure it’s caused by virus again. I wished I could get a copy of that virus but I couldn’t since I can’t boot in to Windows in both normal and safe mode. Even if I can use Windows PE to boot in, I wouldn’t know where the virus is hiding.

Then when the 2010 version came, I wasn’t really excited about it since I’ve already found an alternative called Shadow Defender. Anyway, for this past 2 months Returnil has been promoting their new 2010 version very aggressively by giving out free license all the time. The giveaway was published in GiveAwayOfTheDay, FaceBook, DotTech and now Softpedia. Maybe there are more which I am not aware of but we can definitely see that Returnil wants everyone to use their software.

The good thing about the new Returnil Virtual System 2010 which its competitor doesn’t have is the built-in antivirus powered by F-Prot. Although F-Prot might not be one of the best or top antivirus in the current market, but still it’s better than not having one at all. The Virus Guard feature is very basic and it can only provide real-time protection and a quick scan which only analyzes critical system areas. When a virus is found, you can only quarantine the file. You do not have the option to add it to exclusion list nor repair the infected file. You can’t even set it to auto “move to quarantine”.

I cannot vouch if this new version of Returnil 2010 is able to protect the computer against the virus that managed to make the computer unbootable with Returnil 2008, but with the antivirius engine, it should provide a better layer of protection. I will definitely post an update when I’ve put RVS 2010 to the test at the computer lab again.

For those that haven’t got your free Returnil Virtual System Home Lux for 1 year, go ahead and grab one at this URL: http://www.returnilvirtualsystem.com/giveaway/softpedia-97nw8e. All you need to do is enter your email, confirm the validation link and the license will be sent to your email.

Note: I will now start to randomly select the 30 winners of IDM and hopefully get the list up in a few hours here. The winners will be contacted by a IDM representative.

Thanx for the Returnil link. The real-time AV is kinda funky but the system works very well on Win7. Happy Holidays!

Despite trying Returnil 2010 Home Lux i have gone back to using Returnil 2008 having used it without a problem for the last couple of years. The 2010 version seems slower, far clunkier and less intuitive than the 2008 version. As for viruses, i have come across many (some deliberately) while testing out various software and none have ever penetrated the protection provided by Returnil 2008 Free. I already use Anti-virus software superior to the one included in Returnil 2010 Home Lux so i don’t understand the need for further AV protection. The virtualisation aspect of the software is what makes it so useful, the newly added AV scanning just adds unnecessary ‘bloat’ and slows it down.

Just saw this post.. Raymond, I think the boot problems you encountered with Returnil 2008 could have been due to the computers being scheduled to run native Windows defragmentation… I used Returnil 2008 in the past, and had no issues of virus infiltration.. However encountered BSODs and boot problems intermittently which made it necessary to restore my system from image backups.. Finally found out that Windows defragmentation was auto scheduled to run, and when defragmentation runs when Returnil protection is ON, boot problems will occur at the next bootup… Need to ensure that you turn off defragmentation from running in Task Scheduler… After doing that, I used Returnil 2008 free with no problems whatsoever.. Recently tried Returnil Pro 2011 from Giveawayoftheday… Reduced my bootime to a crawl… Think I will uninstall…
