How to Clean Orkut and Youtube Blocking Worm

Someone in forum asked me this question before and I did a little search and posted a link with manual way to clean the worm. I didn’t find anything interesting on this worm until I’ve seen it with my own eyes on my customer’s computer. It is HILARIOUS! I just couldn’t stop laughing when my customer is so pissed about this worm blocking YouTube and prevent him from using Firefox browser. Actually this worm is called W32.USBWorm or Heap41a and it also blocks Orkut website. It spreads through USB pendrives and removable storage devices.

Have a look at the funny error message when you run Firefox.
I DNT HATE MOZILLA BUT USE IE OR ELSE...
The title bar displays “USE INTERNET EXPLORER YOU DOPE” and the message is “I DNT HATE MOZILLA BUT USE IE OR ELSE…“.

If you try to access Orkut, you get this message “Orkut is banned you fool,The administrators didnt writs this program guess who did?? MUHAHAHA!!”

Also, any attempt to browse YouTube will give you another funny message “youtube is banned you fool,The administrators didnt write this program guess who did?? MUHAHAHA!!”

I can’t imagine how pissed a person can get if he already is having a bad day… Luckily, as time goes by, there is removal tool that can automatically clean and remove W32.USBWorm or Heap41a worm with just one click.


A young chap named Sarath Lakshman from Kerala has created a fix to easily and automatically remove W32.USBWorm worm. Just download the fix from the link below, extract the archive and run Worm-fix.exe. Click the big Remove button and it’ll do its job.

Alternatively, you can also try cleaning it with Flash Disinfector created by sUBs.

      Even i was infected by this one, but i got rid of it, just downloaded the update files of my av, and done.
      but this virus was really annoying, banning firefox, and orkut.
      interesting one as well :D

      I always believe that Antivirus should be used to mainly PROTECT a computer. When you’re infected by a virus or worm, try to look for a removal tool first. Many times antivirus can clean the virus but then won’t fix the changes on your system made by the virus.

      I’d still award Brontok the most nastiest virus!

      How does this worm spread it self is it the return of sector zero viruses or it some how releated to the usb driver in windows.

      also can i get a sample of that worm (i would like to try it on Wine).

      My pc also being affected by this worm but I just used ctrl+alt+delete and ended its process tree.

      I am not able to grab any videos from youtube using you tube grabber whenever i execute youtubegrabber.exe immediately i get this messgae download finish, and a new file .flv is created wiht the name of the song that i tried to grab however that file is empty(0 bytes).

      Now theres a new version of this orkut worm spreading in India which could not be removed by above patch…

      you are using the adsense ads and some links in a way which violates your Quality guidelines. You may get your adsense account banned if someone complains to adsense-support@google.com so better mind it. its a warning..

      @Rawel: Yes I am aware of the Google Adsense Policies and I am very careful at where I place google ads at.

      1 – Tecle CTRL + ALT + DEL para abrir o Gerenciador de Tarefas;

      2 – Procure o processo SVCHOST.EXE com o nome do usuío logado (joao, maria ou seja lí al for o seu usuíri selecione o processo e clique em FINALIZAR TAREFA. Excluir todos exceto os que estiverem no localservice ou network service;

      3 – Abra o Windows Explorer ou o Meu Computador;

      4 – Digite: c:\heap41a e tecle . Esta pasta estí octa mas vai exibir os arquivos de dentro dela EXCLUA TODOS OS ARQUIVOS DESTA PASTA;

      5 – Clique em Iniciar > Executar > digite “regedit” (sem aspas);

      6 – Na janela que abrir clique em Editar > Procurar;

      7 – Digite heap41a e depois em procurar e exclua todas as entradas encontradas (devem aparacer pelo menos 3) , para localizar mais basta ir teclando ou mesmo procedimento de Editar > Procurar

      8 – Feche o editor do registro e reinicie o computador.
