Hi there !
My computer knowledge is limited. I would like to know whether an email I received is legit or not - is there a simple way of finding out?

Once I´been fooled by a friend, where he passed me a link that was supposed to be his myspace homepage, when i entered it asked me for my passport (or hotmail) username and password, then it showed me an error of javascript or something else, he used this to get hotmail accounts.
Luckily he is a friend and told me about it. And a few days later i had an idea, wouldnt be wise always when you´re in doubt to enter your username and a FAKE password (or both fake)?? If the link is the correct one you will know when it appears the WRONG USERNAME OR PASSWORD. If some other message appears (as an error) it would be very probable it´s a phishing.

I use a program like Spoofstick in my browser (at spoofstick.com), a browser extension that tells you where you are -- as opposed to where you think you are. If they're not the same, stop. If you get an email from Company X, and you click on the link, and spoofstick only has numbers (IP address) instead of Company X's website, you _know_ it's a phishing email.
