IObit Game Booster Gives Smoother and Better Game Play

IObit, the company that develops Advanced SystemCare 3 has came up with a new free software called Game Booster. It is designed to help optimize your PC for smoother, more responsive game play in the latest PC games with the touch of a button, Game Booster helps achieve the performance edge previously only available to highly technical enthusiasts. It works by temporarily shutting down background processes, cleaning RAM, and intensifying processor performance with only a single click. You can then bring back the disabled and closed program with a click as well.
Increase Game Performance with Game Booster
I am not a serious gamer and the only game that I play is Counter-Strike Source which is not really a power hungry game (meaning I don’t need a powerful computer to play it). I’ve read on some forums and website saying that Game Booster is able to give better FPS so I thought I should give it a try. Even if you’re not a gamer, you can use this tool to disable unnecessary services and running programs so you can run intensive applications.


I ran Counter-Strike Source and typed the command net_graph 3 in console. I can now see the FPS at the bottom right corner of the screen. You can see the FPS of before and after running Game Booster.

As you can see, there is a very small increase in FPS (the higher the better). I wouldn’t consider that as an improvement after enabling Game Booster because FPS normally fluctuates. Theoretically disabling unnecessary services and running programs should make your computer faster but it is very risky because there are tons of them and disabling the wrong one could make Windows unstable. There are other similar free tools such as SmartClose, AlacrityPC and Vista Services Optimizer that can do the same as Game Booster but the good thing about Game Booster is it is carefully designed to disable services that will NOT affect your internet connection and the stability of your computer.

You will see not much or maybe no improvement at all if you’re an experienced computer user that does regular maintenaince and avoid installing any software that you find. The computer that I use to play CSS on is fully tuned, optimized and regularly maintained, hence it is normal that I don’t see much improvements after enabling Game Booster. However if you are a basic computer user that installs whatever I post in this blog site and never does maintenaince, this tool will definitely give you a smoother game play when the unnecessary RAM eating process are terminated.

      LOL. Thinking again, Power Shadow (yes, the one that I’ve won in a contest here in this blog :D) are doing this kind of job very well. Game Booster only show me my touchpad software, ctfmon and freed 42MB, hence, no real gain. But as you say, for who install every single program you post in this blog, it will be really useful… :)

      It may not be right to assume the fps gain due to using gamebooster. As you can see in the before picture, your ping is 22ms which means you wait more to get info than after using gamebooster when you’ve got 16 ms(check the in stats). As i see it, the fps gain is correlated with the ping – therefore the amount of data transferred per second. You should check the fps values for the same in values(same ping).

      I disagree Alex. As far as I know, FPS is not related to the ping; frames per second is how much frames your system can produce in a second and if you try in a LAN game, where your ping/latency don’t matter, the FPS will be the same. And as suggestion Raymond, try the same thing using the “Create a server” instead of joining an online server. It would be helpful to us… ;-)

      I’ve been using this as well since the initial beta was released, I used to use a simple .bat script to kill off all my applications and services (one before playing games and one for after).

      I hope the next release of GameBooster allows you to custom add applications/services without modifying the .ini files manually.

      I keep my computer maintained on a daily basis by cleaning, defraging and optimizing it, but I tried this about a month ago to see if my game play would get any better with world of warcraft. On the first play I could a notice, my fps was up slightly, but after that I never noticed a difference again and now my fps is back to bouncing between 4-20fps.

      Za3mOn, why am I late? Who am I competing against? For your information, this blog is solely of what I learn/discover on daily basis and sharing it with everyone. It wasn’t, isn’t and will never be a site that tries to compete and see who got it written first.

      this isn’t too bad, I like IOBit’s products, my 1gig ram vista laptop has several background processes running and i’ve noticed some improvement. thanks ray, late or not :)

      Thanks for the tip, but like your experience, I didn’t notice that much of a difference (actually with mine, it was about 2FPS higher at the most). Although I will share this with some friends that like to have everything running even if they don’t use it :P

      Raymond, don’t sweat that Za3mOn guy…I come here everyday looking for and finding something that I never heard of even though I’m a Windows Administrator.

      I don’t use it all but its good to know that’s its available for later (like the boot disks post).

      That guy is probably the type of person that replies “First!” on blog pages without actually adding to the conversation…

      Ive heared the release from iobit since I use advanced system pro. I think it will give benefit when smaller graphical cards are used but when nvidia 8 series are used such as 8800 then is the benefit will be advantegeous?

      Been using Gamebooster 1.0 final since Apr 20 to play WoW on my 11 yr old Dell. Since WoW’s latest huge patch I could no longer play because of lag. Game booster has allowed me to play again! Not only that, but I’ve notices the latency nose dive and FPS sky rocket. I’d never had better than 22 fps on that machine. Now i’m up to 40-44 fps.

      MR 7, there is a limit of FPS that can be reached. I can say for sure(I have a bad internet connection) that the more you lag(slow ping) the less fps you get. In a LAN, with 10/100 Mbps you get the maximum juice out of it.

      FYI. Bey default on vista it disables HIP, which is needed for game controllers. So un check it when you put it into game mode if you are using a controller!

      Been using it, like it a lot. Although I am an experienced user, I find the load up time and the FPS to be just enough better to click it on before I play.
