JDownloader 0.7 Released With Faster GUI and FlashGot Integration

JDownloader is an open source, platform independent and written completely in Java free tool that automates downloading from one click file hosters such as Rapidshare, Megaupload and etc. If you have premium accounts, you can configure JDownloader to use it. If not, JDownloader can also help you to download multiple rapidshare files automatically by reconnecting your Internet connection to change your IP address. Well this only works if you get dynamic IP address and not static ones. There are a lot more such as CAPTCHA recognition, auto extract or join files when it has finished downloading all parts, RAR password brute-force via dictionary list and etc, auto shutdown when finished downloading and etc…

Today I launched JDownloader and I got a notice that there is a major update. I updated it and noticed that the whole program’s GUI has changed to a much faster, nicer and easier to use interface.

I have to admit that the old interface is a little confusing and not so user friendly. The new layout tab helps a lot in making this program looks more tidy.

I was also very excited to learn that the new FlashGot now supports JDownloader! I have FlashGot installed on my Firefox browser and every time when I wanted to download files from RapidShare, I had to manually run JDownloader and let the clipboard monitor catch the links. But with FlashGot integration, I can just right click on the link and select “FlashGot Link” or “FlashGot Selection” if it is a text.

I wasn’t able to get FlashGot working with JDownloader at first. No matter what I did, JDownloader is always grayed out from the list of supported download managers. Then I downloaded the full version from JDownloader’s website, extract and ran it, this time I get a confirmation window asking me to install Firefox integration. I am very sure that didn’t come out when I upgraded from 0.6 to 0.7. After clicking OK, you can now select JDownloader from the Download Manager list.

I noticed that JDownloader is being developed very actively if compared to other downloaders such as CryptLoad. They’ve been talking about their version 2.0 for a long time but still nothing after so many months. JDownloader is FREE and it requires Java Runtime Environment to run. Supports Windows, Linux and Mac. Try it, I am sure you’ll love it.

I still haven’t found a real alternative for Flashget v1.9.6 and this version is about 3 years old. I tried almost every other download manager but non of them had a simple and nice interface like Flashget.
Is JDownloader is really your favorite download manager?

I never could use this program. Besides of ultraslow startup y bulky size I give this program two tries, but dissapoint me always. Slow, heavy, erratic. I copy and paste 5 links (all working) and only recognize 2 o 3. The download speed is 2-3 kb/s even when I set no limits to download speed.
I prefer Universal Share Downloader for Rapidshare y Megaupload, but I still search for a download manager for depositfiles and filefactory.

For those that don’t like jDownloader there is always FreeRapid which is also coded in Java, its reasonably snappy and very easy to use however it is not as feature rich as jDownloader but it gets the job done ;)

I would recommend orbit downloader as an alternative to flashget.

I too also had the same problem as Raymond in regards to Flashgot, I think the implementation still needs some work on jDownloaders behalf as I found it odd that I had to reinstall flashgot via jDownloader to get it to work irrespective of the fact that I already had the latest Flashgot installed in Firefox.

What would be nice to see would be an option to mark downloads as complete, which would be handy for me to manually import the download database from FreeRapid to jDownloader.

hi raymond, i got the following error when i tried to download it from two of the links(windows) available:

      Error:
This file is suspected to contain illegal content and has been blocked. After the file has been blocked for 7 days it will automatically be deleted, if the block is not removed by RapidShare. For this reason, a download of this file is currently not possible.

jdown rocks! .. been using it since day 1 and will continue to use it , works fast and supports every type of link you can think of .. the update makes it even better!

Is JD able to bypass the Download Limit in Rapidshare ?

    • Samuel

Is a disappoint for me of this new version, it always fail to compleate download, say you have download list of 30 parts, after success download maybe 3 – 5 parts of the list, it wouldn’t continue download the rest of the file and give error like plugin error, file not found, but there is no problem download from browser or other download manager.

Universal Share Downloader maybe slow but it do it job well.
For Rapidshare y Megaupload, filefactory is still best with Crypload
