Few days ago I posted an unofficial version of 7.5.0324 for MSN Messenger.
Now, it is official and you can download the 7.5.0324 directly from MSN website.
I recommend upgrading to this build if you are getting error 80048883 or 80048820 whilst signing in.

I got the 80048820 error, tryed anything, till i check that my motherboard batteries died. I was on JAN-2002 time, so MSN just crashed. When i replaced the TODAY´s year-month-day, i got in.

when you tipe your password suddenly 8 diggit password apears that is probably some crap in microsoft
O by the way there is a 1 space between regsvr32 an softpub.dll
Try by setting clock to the righttime.
Then close down msn Messenger down and off the tray bottom right too.
Then press Start.
Then run.
type in regsvr32 softpub.dll enter
follow the steps.

I’ve tried all of the above and still get the “error 80048820″. I’ve spent two days searching and trying to fix this problem, somebody must know whats happening???
Hello All-
The “error 80048820″ is tied to the Internet Explorer “Proxy Settings”. This is accessed through the Tools-Internet Options drop-down in the menu bar, then click on the “Connections” tab. The bottom of the next window has a button called “LAN Settings”. Go there and clear out ANY data, even if it’s “greyed out” by selecting the proxy checkbox and then deleting the info and un-checking the box again. This fixed my issue after all else had failed me! Make sure that Firefox (if you use that also) has the same thing done in it’s proxy settings, also!!

Right, ive got the official version of msn 7.5.0324 and for the last few months its been working fine, now all of a sudden error 80048820 has decided to stop me signing in, i havent been able to sign in for 5 days. Ive tried everything, i have no firewalls, my clock is right, ive done the connection tests on msn and it says i should be able to sign in, ive reinstalled msn about 100 times, but its still not working.. please help :|
Man.. This is getting really upsetting!!! I have both English and Portuguese official releases of msn messenger 7.5.0324 and the same crap still happenning.
A thing i had noticed is, when you type your password and click Enter, the last digit of your password simply dissapear! (pay closer attention when you guys try it) i think microsoft has put some kind of crap that, after sometime, it begins to eat the last digit of our password and screw us up!
If this is a another kind of crap of Micro$oft, well i will see myself obligued to change to another program that can allow me use my msn lists. I have no problems with Yahoo!, so i think that Micro$oft is just playing tricks on us to make us get more pissed with them!

well i update my msn to 7.5.0324 and nothing working.
i tell you some details.i have a DSL line.so when i connect my pc directly to modem router (level1 FBR-1416A) evrything is ok.My msn working.If i try to login via the wireless router (level1 WBR-3406TX) msn msg is not working and i have the 80048820 error.I try many tips but nothing.detail………when i try to run the windows messenger via the wi-fi router it’s working.

Still having the same error – upgraded to 7.5.0325 – I’ve reregistered the dll and my time is correct. Any ideas?
i have the same problem but with a little bit different version !!
i m not able to connect msn messenger (same probelm of 80048820) but i m able to connect using the e-messenger.net (web-based msn login, without secure connection, if i check the checkbox of secure login it doesnot connects me), also i m not able to connect to my yahoo & hotmail accoounts using web browserS. i guess if i use non-secure (non https) login (which i m not sure how can i do this), i will be able to login using my msn messenger??
anyway i have also tried almost every trik to solve 80048820 problem, but in vain :( any idea!! (still not disappointed!)
