Latest version of Nero 8 is out! Actually Nero 8 was leaked out few weeks ago and the file size was 960MB in ISO image. I’ve downloaded the official Nero 8, installed it and the main graphical user interface looks very much alike as version 7.
The new features of Nero 8 include:
* Brand new, easy-to-use Nero StartSmart project launcher
* Windows Vista Ready
* Increased Blu-ray and HD DVD recording and playing support
* New, improved graphical interface
* A variety of new, user-friendly features and services
* Improved video menu authoring and transition effects
The latest version of Nero 8 file size is very close to Nero 7. Nero v7.10.1.0 is 173MB and Nero v8.1.1.0 is 178MB in size. It’s only 5MB bigger and I believe it’s as bloated as Nero 7. Nero has been accused of software bloat due to its inclusion of many applications including Visual Basic ActiveX control, CD/DVD label creator, sound editor, etc., which result in a large installer size. When I install the latest version of Nero, I make sure that I select the features that I use from custom setup.
Nero 8 includes a new tool called RescueAgent which is can be used to quickly and easily restore data from CDs and DVDs. It’s like a data recovery for media disc.
A guy named Acheron has created lite/micro versions of Nero 7 but not yet for version 8. Nero Lite which include only features deemed to be essential, resulting in installer sizes as low as 20MB for Nero Micro, featuring “just Nero Burning Rom with basic Audio/VideoCD support (English). Although many components can be removed from custom setup, but you still need to download that huge installer. That is why Nero Lite/Micro is used by many people.
There’s already a keygenerator for Nero 8! It is not surprising at all because there are keygenerator for nearly all builds and versions of Nero. The Nero 8 keygenerator is able to remove previous used serial number by clicking the Clean button. The generate button will generate a new serial number for Nero 8.
My favorite version of Nero is still 6. It does the job and it’s not bloated. However, Nero 6 has been discontinued by Nero and there hasn’t been any updates since March 2007. I have Nero 6 on my laptop and the latest Nero 8 on my desktop. If you’d like to have both version of Nero on one computer, you can install Nero 6 and then use Nero 8 portable. But if you ask me to pick one from the 2 versions, my advice is to install the latest version AND do a custom installation removing whatever unnecessary.

yo tengo el problema que muchos tienes que me bota un error interno neroAg_registercom ex, y la verdad no se que hacer he mirado por todos lados en inclusive tratandolo de borrar con el NERO GENERAL CLEAN TOOLS, y el windows vista me boto un error de servidor (algo extraño para mi),

Ho notato che a differenze delle altre versioni la 8.3.2.1, non mette in ordine automatico le tracce mp3 quando si crea un album audio: normalmente essendo taggati gli mp3 nelle altre versioni, nero prendeva in ordine corretto le tracce. ora invece me le mette solo in ordine di titolo oppure di durata etc ma non di traccia. C\’è un\’impostazione
da configurare? Qualcuno ha lo stesso problema ed è riuscito a risolverlo?

Guys, I found out that changing your system date to 2007 before keying in Nero 8 works like a charm, as the keys given by “embrace keymaker” are supposed to work till 31st Dec 2007 9Got to know this from this forum)!!
i have downloaded nero 8 and the keygen. when its asking me for the serial number i enter the number from keygen, but the this pops up:

i am running nero 8 and i have installed a new samsung dvd burner and everything was great for about a day when i went to write some data to a dvd and it started to burn at 16x and then dropped to 1x and i have disabled running apps, i have changed brands of dvds and i have checked the firmware and its the latest one??

Nothing described above worked for me. I had Nero 7. I was getting the message “your system has not been modified’ etc. As a last resort I tried the Clean tool that Nero offers free. I chose “cleaned ALL” option and voilla !! Nero 8 installed smoothly!

Mine doesn’t work. I’m trying to instal NERO 7 Premium and it comes with the message: “Your system has not been modified. Try another time.” I tried another time, and i changed the start-up type to Manual on Automatic Updates Service but the problem is still there.

i have tried to install nero 8 and it says i need to have directx 9.0c. i have downloaded 9.0c and run it and it completes. i still get the same message. no reply from nero tech.

I tried just about everything I could think of to fix the repeated reboot problem. This is what finally did the trick:
1 Click Start
2. click Run.
3. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
4. Locate and click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
5. Locate and delete any PendingFileRenameOperations values in the key.
6. Click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the deletion.
7. Quit Registry Editor.
I have ccleaner but it is not set to run on boot up. I don’t have any other “cleaner” operating. But I still get this message “A system reboot was requested by previous software installation (e.g. a Windows update). Please reboot your computer to resume the installation of Nero 8 ” every time I run the installer — I can reboot, I can run the Nero uninstall cleaner — doesn’t matter, I still get the message every time I try to run the Nero 8 installer

Here is what should help you….
you might have installed some cleaner software that will clear all history & temporary files whenever your system restarts.
1. Please turn off any autocleaner (like ccleaner, etc..) service (temporarily)
2. Run Nero 8 setup
3. When it asks for restart , restart it (make sure that your ccleaner or any other temporary file cleaner software is turned off)
4. Complete Nero installation
5. Change your autocleaner settings back to original (if wanted)

The reason i refuse to use regular versions of Nero is because it installs irritating codecs that seem to conflict with other default codecs.
Also, no matter what i do i can’t seem to get Nero to only install the thing i need, and i only need one thing.
So i’ll stick with my lovely little Nero portable.

True, Nero has become so bloated in recent editions that I’ve often been tempted to turn away from it and use free alternatives like CDBurnerXP or Imgburn. When they drop support for Nero 7 might be just the right time to make the switch.
