Run Palm softwares on Pocket PC and Smartphone

That’s right! Sounds impossible eh? It’s like running a Linux application on Windows! With the help of an emulator called StyleTap, you can now run Palm applications on your Pocket PC or Smartphone. StyleTap used to only support running Palm applications on Pocket PC but until recently, they’ve released a beta version of StyleTap that is able to run Palm applications on Windows Mobile Smartphone.
There are still some programs that won’t work, and Styletap only supports resolutions up to 320 x 320 pixels, so you’re out of luck if if you have a VGA Windows Mobile device, or if you want to emulate a Palm program that runs at 480 x 320.

I was trying to install Gamer XP v4 yesterday, a heavily modified Windows XP for gamers, and I got an error message like the one below.
“An error has been encountered that prevents Setup from continuing.
One of the components that Windows needs to continue Setup could not be installed.
Manifest Parse Error : Invalid at the top level of the document.
press OK to view the Setup log file.”
When I press OK this is what I get:
Error:
SXS.DLL: Syntax error in manifest or policy file ” D:\I386\asms\52\POLICY\MSFT\WINDOWS\NETWORK\RTCDLL.MAN” on line 0
***
Error:
Installation Failed : D:\I386\asms. Error Message : Manifest Parse Error : Invalid at the top level of the document.
***
Fatal Error
One of the components that windows needs to continue setup could not be installed.
Manifest Parse Error: Invalid at the top of the document.
I thought that maybe the Gamer XP was corrupted and somehow was not suitable to install on my computer. I tried searching if anyone had the same problem as me during installing Gamer XP but none had this problem. I started to think that maybe I did not burn the ISO image correctly because I was doing a fresh clean installation.

Let’s face it, we’ve all been in a situation where we have accidentally deleted a required file, or lost important files on a ‘dead’ floppy. At this point, most people accept the loss with frustration, thinking that once a file’s gone, it’s gone. Not exactly. From a normal point of view, the file is gone and it’s not possible for the file to be still laying somewhere hidden from you. But from an experience computer person point of view, the file is still around and it’s recoverable IF the cluster hasn’t been overwritten.
Before we can determine how to restore files that were incorrectly deleted, we must first understand how Windows handles deleted files. Many people are unaware that when they delete a file, the file is not actually removed from their hard disk. Instead, Windows just marks the file as being deleted, and treats it as free space, ready to be written over. For this reason, the trick to regaining these deleted files is to restore them before Windows writes over them again. Therefore, it is very possible to be able to restore files that were deleted anywhere from a few minutes ago to a few days ago. Obviously, files deleted more recently are much more probable to be recoverable. If you realize that you accidentally deleted files that you need, it is very important to stop using your computer extensively until they are recovered, because any hard drive action could potentially overwrite the file.
Now you should understand how this works. Most of the software required to recover the files back are shareware. Today I found a FREEWARE utility that does the same with a much simpler graphical user interface.

Until the new version MySpace MP3 Gopher is release, I don’t have any other way to download (or steal) music from MySpace than the manual way.
1. Go to the MySpace site you wish to steal the song from.
2. Download “Audacity” from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
3. Change the setting from “Microphone” to “Stereo Mixer”
4. Make sure the microphone volume (if you have one) is on 0 (or failing that 0.1 which may make it slightly bad quality”
5. Listen to the whole song whilst recording it with Audacity.
6. Delete any parts at the start or end where there’s no sound (optional)
7. Export to MP3 or WAV file.

I found a very new Linux distro called XpressLinux born on October 26, 2006 that’s similar to Windows XP. It might be the perfect distro for a die-hard Windows user who wants to try Linux or have a dual-boot system. Below are the few reasons why I said the above statement.

I’ve got a friend asking me how to restore the “Show Desktop” icon back to quick launch on taskbar if accidentally deleted?

I really have no idea how to do it at first other than copying the “Show Desktop” icon from another computer. It works! But what if you do not have another computer with you that time? Here’s how you can MANUALLY create the “Show Desktop” icon.
