Well, to answer my own question:
These threads: http://www.autohotkey.com/forum/topic26304.html & http://www.autohotkey.com/forum/topic61018-30.html have some interesting ways to use a tool called AutoHotkey to intercept the shutdown with a script.

Not very user friendly and it takes some time to get into, but it did the job for me. Hope it helps someone.

I’ve been looking for a tool exactly like LastChance, but I need it on a Windows 7 box and it won’t install even under compatibility mode.

Do you know of any similar tools that could run a certain program or script before continuing the shutdown process?

buna! am si eu o pb cu pc cand il inchid sub turn off si celelalte 2 sub astea imi apare urmatoarea chestie : click turn off install important updates and turn off your computer.click here to turn off without instaling updates…ce as putea sa fac sa scap de ea ?! astept raspuns…multumesc !

Hi,
I run a script at 6pm every night(at a school) to shutdown all computers, i would like to give the user the option to abort the shutdown, i like the Shut It “shutdown warning” is it possible to only use that dialog? Then make it shutdown after 60 seconds if nothing is pressed? or is there a better application for what i want?
