If you have just created a new Facebook account, by default the Facebook users that are not your friend would not be able to view your Facebook profile. They would see a message that says “Raymond only shares some of his profile information with everyone. If you know Raymond, send him a message or add him as a friend.” Since people couldn’t even see anything on your profile unless they are your friend, logically they can’t see your private photos or albums too right? Only half right…

There is one working javascript hack that has been discovered more than a month ago which allows anyone to view Facebook private photo and album without being in the friend list. All the user needs to do is login to their Facebook account first, then go to the main user profile page and paste the javascript below at the address bar and hit enter.
javascript:(function(){CSS.removeClass(document.body,%20'profile_two_columns'); tab_controller.changePage("photos");})()
When it works, it shows the Facebook album photos instantly and if not, you get the error message “There are no photos to display. Photos of Raymond may not have been tagged, or may not be visible due to privacy.” I have done more tests and found that this is caused by a privacy setting in Facebook allowing “EVERYONE” to view photos and videos of the user.
Fortunately there is a fix to protect your privacy and prevent anyone from viewing your private album photos in Facebook. Simply follow the steps below on how to configure a more strict privacy setting for your Facebook profile.
1. Login to your Facebook account
2. Click on Account at the top right and select Privacy Settings
3. Click on Profile Information
4. Select either Only Friends or Friends of Friends for Photos and Videos of Me.

To me, this does seemed like a bug and Facebook should definitely fix it. Even if the user did configure that everyone can view their album/photo, but if their profile is set to private, the same should happen for the album photos too. Found any friend that didn’t have their photo protected? Let them know about it while waiting for Facebook fix the bug.

guido is right. i found out the same thing,
Hey dude it doesn’t work right now
does not work anymore : ) Is there another code ?
But i realise something. PLEASE ANSWER MY DOUBT
you can see photos if you have friends in common. but i try it in one person which there are no friends in common and it did not work
This is not a bug. It simply allows for more user options. That fact that ppl dont realise they have to do both is the problem.
Sorry for my post… It works! I guess that for the user I did the test, they probably customize some privacy settings!
Thank Ray
It doesn’t work on my side…. I use Firefox. When I paste the js code in the address bar… I see on the page this message : There are no photos to display. Photos of PROFIL_NAME may not have been tagged, or may not be visible due to privacy.
and the same thing happen with the post tag, it gave me this msg: PROFIL_NAME has no recent posts.
Do I do something wrong?
Someone would use this script when they want to view photos of a facebook user that is not in their friend list. Get it?
I’m sry for my last comment… :( :P
It seems that if photos are available, u can just click the photo tab of the profile(Only if its not private one can see the photo tab)
I dunno y would someone use this script.
thanks ray :D
It is still working jackson. You must have done it wrongly or the Facebook profile has chosen either only friends or friends of friends to view albums.
it did not work.
thanks Ray!!!
@darkanubispr: No it’s not fixed yet. I’ve just tested it and you must have done it wrongly.
10 out of 10 again ! Thanks Raymond – I am compiling a comprehensive dossier on the dangers of various networking sites and had missed this one.
I think by default the option is NOT set to “everyone”. I don’t see any need to worry.
(I may be mistaken though.)

I know about this script already. But thanks, Raymond. Best blog.
If you think about it, the novice user won’t even know how to use javascript and so it isn’t a huge security risk, but a security risk none the less. Thanks
thanks Ray

Share another thing, even though u make all the photo albums only available to friends / a group of friends, after finish uploading it, unless you don’t publish to feeds. Else, everybody still able to see ur photos even though u had set the privacy of the album only available to a group of friends.
