I’ve reported that ICQ released a new version of ICQ v5.10 yesterday.
As usual, the latest ICQ v5.10 also comes with built-in banner advertisements which is frankly can be quite annoying to some users who only wants to have a clean chat over ICQ instant messenger.

Well at least not for all because some companies and individuals rely on advertisements to keep their services or site alive…
Anyway, if you really want to remove the advertisement banner, here’s an easy way on how to clean or remove the advertisement banner for both ICQ 5.1 in German (build #2403) and ICQ 5.1 (build #2573) in English.
1. Download ICQ 5.10 build 2403 2573 Banner Killer and run it.

2. That’s all! It will automatically replace some files and your new ICQ 5.10 is now ad-free!

Cool and easy eh ;)

ICQ is not as popular now as it used to be.

Pork, conversation windows as in when you’re typing a message?
I just updated my ICQ to 5.1 Build 2575 and the 2573 banner remover still works for my message conversation windows.
how do you remove the ad on the bottom when a conversation window is opened?
Wow, ICQ2Go is now flash based.
Check it out at icq.com/download/icq2go/
Can’t remember when was the last time I used ICQ2Go.
i’ve the same sentiment as Azmeen… think i’ll log into ICQ2Go and check if I still have contacts online…
Well, you wouldn’t know… I haven’t installed ICQ in a while and today I installed ICQ, logged in and surprised to find that there are still quite a lot of people online in my ICQ list.
Wow… and here I was, thinking that nobody uses ICQ anymore nowadays ;)
