i am unable to use hotspot shield with my Macintosh computer. is there a way to overcome this issue?

I could live with that annoying banner. What I do NOT like is the fact that HotSpot Shield seems to take over my browser and my searching. It also constantly popsup with advertising, with audio, interfering with any attempt to stream audio for my own pleasure. I also really do not like it taking over my searches.
