Thanks a lot. This tool is fine. The Office folder inside the Program Files existed even after running this tool. So before installing I manually deleted that and also check all the supposed entries of Office. And yes, in the Add/ Remove Programs there was a copy. When I tried to uninstall it manually, it told that Office has already been removed, and wiped that symbol. Just now I reinstall my Office 2007. Thanks a lot again Mr. Raymond. Cheers.

The tool works pretty well to remove Office 2007 from a Vista machine... but... beware... it also removes all earlier versions of Office also.

So... if... you want to maintain an earlier version of office (as I do/did), you should make sure you have the installation disks to allow you to reinstall it.

Also - you will have to re-associate your files (.doc, .xls, etc.) with another application (e.g. Works WP, Works Spreadsheet, Open Office apps, etc.).

There is new tool directly from MS, published in June 2010.
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;290301
Look after the "Fix it" buttons at the bottom of the page.

My guess is that Microsoft's own KB 928218 is the "flow chart" for RipOutOffice2007:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218
The title of KB928218 is "How to manually uninstall the 2007 Office system if you cannot uninstall it by using the 'Add or Remove Programs' feature"

I've used Microsoft's procedure from KB928218, and it worked, but it took close to an hour! I have no idea why M$ hasn't made a "fixme" app to do it.

Microsoft has made a "fixme" for the closely-related KB 971179 (a palindrome, BTW). However, they warn that the fixme won't uninstall separately installed Office 2007 applications (e.g., Outlook 2007 purchased separately and added to Home & Student Edition):
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971179
The title for KB971179 is "How do I uninstall the 2007 Office suites if I cannot uninstall it by using the 'Add or Remove Programs' feature?"

(As for why you would want to uninstall Office 2007, the most common reason is that Office 2007 is malfunctioning, and needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled, but uninstalling from the control panel doesn't work.)

Hello,

I am not capable of evaluating the warning about the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility given by Microsoft at the download page -

"Warning-The Windows Installer CleanUp Utility is provided "as is" to help resolve installation problems for programs that use Microsoft Windows Installer. If you use this utility, you may have to reinstall other programs. Caution is advised."

but I think that it probably deserves some consideration. Does anybody have any information as to whether it can be used in the way suggested by rvdmast (number 05)?

Lastly, does it work with Windows 7?
