Windows 7 installed flawlessly and recognized all my hardware except for an older model HP Scanner. Looked at HP's website and they don't even have a driver for Vista, so am probably not going to get one. Installed Windows 7 on a HDD connected to my computer through an esata boot, so thanks to GRUB, which was loaded with Linux Ubuntu, I now have a triple boot computer. Windows 7 seems to boot and shutdown quicker than XP, about the same as Ubuntu for me. The program seems to have a lot of nice features and I look forward to playing around with them.

But you're learning. And doing damn well at it too!
No worries. Perhaps sometime later on.I am afraid you are wrong there again hellnoire, I am not using ubuntu for the pass few days as I need to torrent something VERY BIG. And I will not be touching ubuntu until I get that stuff from torrent. And I am going to college for one year where there is no ubuntu on my laptop. So I am sorry....
I never fear penguins. I'm getting a live Tux soon
But yeah, I've checked all of them Polkadot. Believe me, I've tried everything and anything. I've even compiled a copy of AutoNDISWrapper. Nothing. Nothing makes them work. They just aren't supported at the moment. I don't say I've tried everything unless I really have. Sorry.
And to those that have tried the Windows 7 RC and say it's amazing, that's good to hear. It means I might have less issues with it then Vista

Now Bill can kiss my A$$. i think they owe it to us VHP users to give us 07 free. All 07 is and i have used it is a lighter version of vista with less bugs. Still has alot of services running. The only reason it takes less HDD space to install is some of the MS programs are web based
yeah i am pissed. They kno all of us that HATE vista will RUN to the store and drop 300 on the new OS. When they should DEBUG vista first. HELL SP2 is still a beta for VHP
Hey Rusty,
I had to laugh when I read your post. It reminds of the time, when Windows Millenium came out and it was full of bugs, maybe even worse than Vista. My computer would lock up out of the blue and my only recourse was to unplug it. Then, a short while later, XP came along and it was a "huge" improvement. My experience with Millenuim is why I didn't jump on the Vista bandwagon. I figured it was better to wait for the next generation (in this case 7) so most of the bugs would be worked out. I have installed 7 RC and I must say, that everything seems to work pretty well. If I decide to upgrade from XP, I'll probably wait until after the first SP is released.

I feel no sympathy for vista users wanting discount or free upgrade, when vista came out there was nothing but bad reviews about it and still you went out and purchased it, im glad i stuck to xp and now i have saved my self like what 300 bucks?

Think of Windows7 as Vista SP3, or Vista v2.0
It is Vista in drag. But they have resolved some issues, and added some new functionality.
If you have issues/suggestions regarding the 'feature set', please use the 'Feed Back' button in RC, and it will be forwarded to the Win8 development team.

If you are happy with Vista, keep using it. However, this is a huge promo from M$. Anybody can try it for FREE for nearly a year. It actually dies on 1 June 2010, but on March 1 it will begin shutting down every two hours. A subtle reminder that the free lunch is over. Either cough up for the 'real' version, or fall back to whatever you had before...and be stuck with a year's worth of updates to deal with.

Windows Vista was Windows 6.0.
I'm on Windows 7 right now and it does feel like Windows 6.1. It won't be a major release. More like a tweaked Vista with some handy new UI changes.
It does fix Vista but fails to establish itself as a Revolutionary Operating System.
[But hey Windows XP too, was Windows 5.1; yet it became the most successful OS ever. So, it's too early to come to a genuine conclusion, right now.]
