Thread: Windows 7 RC Free
- 05-08-2009 #31
Yeah. They included a XP Virtual machine into RC. Do you suppose they are trying to 'hook' all of the XP users who never 'upgraded' to Vista?

Is there any good free security software that is compatible?

Most of the Vista stuff should work. 64 bit stuff might be a problem. Kaspersky doesn't do much that works on 64 bit systems, but then again, it isn't free either.

Yep, LCaveman, there are quite a few Windows 7 Ready Security Software. And it includes your Favorite Norton too. Here's the complete list on Microsoft website.

NOTE: You'll get a Free 6 Months License key of KIS 2009 for Windows 7 from the above Microsoft website. You can run it on Windows Vista or even XP too (with some tweaking).

Thx, yhea i was aware of norton having a beta version for windows 7, but i didn't want to bother with a 14 day trial, you said free 6 months from kaspersky? that is not bad, but i was hoping for software like avast and comodo that are free and dont have to worry about renewing license .I am itching to give windows 7 a test drive and 6 months of kaspersky is not bad at all, i think im going to do that.

Oh, just remembered. One of my friends is going to get me a free CD key when final ships
He's buying it for me
Also, Avast worked fine in the beta LC, I see no reason why it wouldn't now.Last edited by hellnoire; 05-08-2009 at 03:36 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

They're also already patched it too.

I'm using Windows 7 right now. It's amazing how fast it is, next to impossible to tell it's based off Vista. I've got it going with all the eye candy on and it's still much faster then Vista. I'd think many people should try it. It's also stable too
It's got my vote for a good OS. Depending on what happens, I might buy it. I might not
