Still, Reaper, you'd think there would be a certain extent where you've just got to let it go and run it's course, eh?

- 05-07-2009 #13lol thats funnyThe best way to deal with these problems, is tackling them before they start: talk to your kids. Either that, or just don't bother with computers and internet. Give them stone tablets.http://small-anime.blogspot.com/ for my latest 60Mb Mini Mkv's encodes/uploads

It's something I find touchy. Like I said, my mom wanted a keylogger on my personal computer. It makes me angry to say the least.
I recently had the goodwill to retract many of my complaints about Norton. But now, Norton refuses to take them, and instead, wants to hear me rant and rave once more on how shiet they are. Logic is beyond them, I swear.

hellnoir, your hate towards norton is becoming downright hillarious if not dangerous for your health, here you are again with your norton ranting to the point to make a simple parental control seem like an evil program sent straight from hell, just because it has the name norton on it, the day you become a parent and your kids go online you will see that these programs are rather helpfull, helps you keep you kids safe online, by notifying you not only about what your kids are up to, but what other may be up to with your kids, in the perfect world you would be right ,yhea just talk to them about safety and blah blah blah, but in the real world it doesn't work that way, and that is why parental controls are a very big bussines .I'll shut up now

As a single father, I successfully raised two daughters. They are bright, successful, wise, and also curious. IMHO, the secret to raising children, is that you must give them love AND respect! If you do not give them that, do not expect it in return! If you show a lack of trust, you are also showing a lack of respect. Yes, they will make mistakes (like the rest of us). Yes, they will learn. If you want to learn how to swim, just jump into the DEEP end of the pool!

I speak from my personal opinion. I find this outrageous that they need to make this, rather then insist the talk with teens option. If you have to keylog someone to trust them, that tells me you don't trust me, at all. So why should I trust you?
Personally, I see a lot of harm and misuse out of these apps. If you don't, that's your two cents, and you're entitled to it. Parental controls might be sold but they all can be broken. Take for example, infamous NetNanny. That's the one my mom wanted to throw on my PC three years into my relationship.
Now you tell me. 19 years old. With a personal computer, paying for his own internet. Honestly, tell me: do you think I deserve some shit like that on my PC?
I broke it after the first day, blew up at my mom and haven't really had any issues since. But if you're going to install something on someone, you should talk to them too. Companies that log you, let you know. Parents should to, after explaining that of the hazards out there.
And this time, LC, it's more ragging on the Parental Control industry, not really Norton. If this was PC Pandora or any other keylogger, you'd see me ranting and raving the same amount, but with their name instead.
That's my point I'm trying to make. I mean, yes, you give them floaties, but a keylogger like this is like giving them a boat and key. You're not going to help them learn to swim, you're giving yourself a false sense of security. You might think it will stop them from doing anything but you're just going to end up with worse kids overall if you want my two cents.
- 05-07-2009 #20is this #8 guy? http://www.pcworld.com/article/16373...l?tk=nl_wbxnws , lol i know i am not very well with comas and periods, i just try to get my point accross. That is one long sentence.
unfortunately your doughters are at a higher risk to falling victims to scamms, such as meeting the 15 year old boy they met in my space that wants to meet them after they get out of school, just to find out he is a 40 year old pervert, and now shes in his van blindfolded, like i said in the perfect world what you say makes perfect sence, unfortunatly this is not a perfect world and you have to watch your kids, this is not about going in your doughters bedroom and asking yourself, hmm should i read her diary?, this is about allot more than that, the internet is a very dangerous place for kids.As a single father, I successfully raised two daughters. They are bright, successful, wise, and also curious. IMHO, the secret to raising children, is that you must give them love AND respect! If you do not give them that, do not expect it in return! hellnoir at 19 years old you are old enough to do what you do, but parental controls are mostly used to watch younger kids i would think.Last edited by LCaveman; 05-07-2009 at 03:02 PM.
