Microsoft Security Essentials 1.0 (MSE)
Formerly codenamed "Morro", MSE replaces Windows Live OneCare and Windows Defender.
This is a pre-release beta version, and may contains bugs.

mm...perhaps i'll wait for when it comes out for beta testing. Windows defender and live one care weren't so great. It makes me wonder if this will be worth it, considering a paid (or free for a year) version of AV or IS is worth it much more.

Seriously, I wonder if MSE is going to achieve something more than a curiosity. But then, it's being developed by the very people who created the root of the problems it seeks to engage.
