A2 Antimalware has better malware signature nos and detection rate compare with SAS and MBAM combined in terms of general malware list. But also the impact of false positives is noticeable. SAS and MBAM tagets new general malwares and variants.
a2 has two engines ( A2 Antimalware Engine + Ikarus Av engine ) compare to traditional AS engine by SAS and MBAM.
I think to be fair if you downloaded a2 antimalware with bundled Online armor that would be a pretty tough fight. Detection rates of a2 ( Ikarus ) is pretty good compare with Kaspersky engine but the false positives is also higher and annoying. See and try it for yourself .umm which one is better a suqared or kis CBE??
Overall a2 free is a good supplement On-Demand scanner while a2-antimalware is a solid antimalware/AS/AV program.Last edited by ceyfer; 07-02-2009 at 05:39 PM.

Is the Asquared Antivirus (as distinct from Antimalware) protection realtime, or just on-demand? I am asking because I am considering to run KAV alongside.

The A-Squared Antimalware protection is real time.
According to their website, http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/antimalware/ you can run A-Squared with your existing AV software.

It seems to play well with my Bitdefender Internet Security.

Thanks BCK, that is what I wanted to hear.
I fired up Clean-my-machine and it detected already 6 high-risk trojans: shocking, and a blow to my paranoid ego.
One more question: does anyone have a link to download their recently released version?
The one on their site is still from February!
EDIT: I am not quite sure anymore what version I downloaded.Last edited by Kees; 07-02-2009 at 07:14 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
